Which Shoes Work with Jeggings?

March 2, 2010 Comments (0)

Whether you like ‘em or not, it looks like Jeggings – that is the hybrid Jeans/leggings spotted on Kim K, La Lohan and just about every other Hollywood starlet – are here to stay (or will at least be a hot ticket for spring and summer!)

We all know that the style is far from forgiving – courtesy of their form fitting nature and the array of ultra-light washes they’re currently cropping up in – but there are certain footwear choices you can make to really work this look!

Over-the-knee boots:
When there’s still a chill in the air, opting for a boot (and a cozy sweater) can really warm up this new look! If you’re on the shorter side, opt for an over-the-knee boot with a substantial heel – either in the form of a chunky, stacked heel or a wedge – but taller gals can certainly rock a pair of flat boots, just opt for a pair with an almond or elongated toe to create a longer line.

Booties:
Ankle boots, booties, shoe-boots, shooties. Whatever you call ‘em, you’ll want to pair them with leggings. While this look will probably work best for girls blessed with long legs, shorter limbed gals can still make it work by coupling their Jeggings with booties in a similar hue to create a more streamlined look.

Pumps:
While everyone has a pair of pumps in their wardrobe, you’ll want to tread a fine line when pairing pumps with Jeggings. We love the idea of amping up the rock-and-roll feel of the Jeggings with a pair of edgy pumps with metallic hardware embellishments, such as studs and grommets. Another fashion forward idea? Taking a cue from celebs and pairing the so-skinny pants with teal, fuschia or other similarly bright-hued pumps. One color you should avoid? White! It’s far too Tawny Kitaen for our liking!

Flats:
You might not think it, but flats – either in the form of ballet slides or gladiator-inspired sandals – can create an interesting and very much on-trend pairing for Jeggings. Look for styles that flatter the foot and, for practical reasons, are free of overly tricky ankle embellishments so as to not compete with the pants.
