Just because the weather has turned gloomy doesn’t mean that you must resign yourself to wearing a parade of dull, boring brown or black shoes until the sun decides to come out sometime in May. Brighten up your look, as well as your mood with these fierce, fabulous, colorful winter boots.
Brilliant Green
Boutique 9’s Cathy mid-calf leather boot in a pale, forest green looks bo-ho chic and earthy.
Deep Purple
If you feel like standing out in a crowd, but also keeping your feet warm, you must, must, must check out the Alda thigh-high boot from Shiekh. I barely have words to describe these funky and fabulous 4-inch stunners! Simply click here and behold!
Bright Orange
I’m still not sure how I feel about flat boots, but no matter what stance you have on the issue, you’ll definitely want to check out the Nicolette bright orange flat boots from Michael Kors. They just might be the perfect thing to perk up a black cashmere turtleneck and A-line gray skirt.
True Blue
And since there’s nothing like a blast of cobalt blue to shake you out of the winter blahs, thank goodness Steve Madden conjured up the Princey ankle bootie. The brilliant color in addition to the amazing skinny 4.5-inch heel equals nothing short of fabulous!

Shoes are harder to source for winter when you are a vegan, but it is not impossible to find warm footwear. These materials provide great options for people looking to stay animal-free but not chilly, and you only have to start from here. Let’s get going!
Stretch, Lined Microfiber
Stretch fabrics are wonderful, because they mold to your feet. If you’re used to dressing up in boots that are clunky or uncomfortable, then stretch boots are a good change. Instead of having your boots lined in sheepskin, they can be lined in fleece or another warm fabric. A snug fit will also keep your feet warmer.
Jute
Jute can be blended with coated fabrics or other materials for an ecological mixture that lends warmth and comfort. Jute moves well on your feet, and it doesn’t wear out very easily, either. Jute blends best with wool, microfiber yarns, and cotton, and all of these can be treated with water-resistant products. Read more »
Winter shoe emergencies have to be the worst kind, because they aren’t just uncomfortable, they are dangerous. Summertime might mean blisters, but wintertime could mean frostbite if you’re not careful. Our top shoe emergencies solved!
Your winter shoes are slipping.
Got the wintertime slippin’ shoe blues? Yuck, that’s terrible. Instead of freaking out and thinking that there is no way you can wear your winter shoes, keep in mind that your shoes can easily get a little gripping tread added to the bottom of your footwear. Winter shoes without the right tread are awful! Read more »
As we’ve discussed before here at myShoes.com, finding winter boots that are cute and chic is a tough task. It’s not impossible, but be prepared to dig, hunt and do trial runs with boots that may not stand the test of time. We want something that keeps us warm, are easy to walk in despite the icky weather conditions and still looks halfway decent for a dinner out with friends. Enter the Ugg Lynnea boots.
The Ugg Lynnea boots have caused a stir on the web because word has spread like wildfire about how fabulous the boots are. When you take a peek at them online, you’ll realize the boots are definitely cute. They’re a clog-style boot, which is oh-so-stylish this season and hit a little lower than mid-calf, but a little higher than your standard ankle boot. The Lynnea boots are available in black and brown leather and black and brown suede. All are fabulous picks, but if you’re in a snowy region the leather version are less prone to snow and salt stains than the suede. Read more »
December is almost here, lovelies! We’re trying to bundle up since things are bound to get icier, and that means we want to keep our feet from being chilly. How about these suggestions to get the gears turning?
Sweater-Lined Boots: These boots are so warm and comfortable, and they can be lined in wool, cashmere knit, or a lightweight cotton sweater-type sock. Sweater-lined boots are lovely when the interior is bright enough to lend a shock of color to even the most basic of outfits. Think black leggings are too plain? Wear a pair of boots with a turquoise lining or a plaid interior and a fold-down cuff, and you’ll be jolly all December.
Sheepskin Boots with Foldover Cuffs: Foldover boots lend a unique silhouette to tighter winter clothes, and they are just perfect for this time of year when paired with thick socks in a cool color. If sheepskin isn’t for you, then you can wear a pair of boots that flaunt faux sheepskin instead. Get a pair of boots with buckles along the uppers, too!

How we love the warm weather! What we don’t love is how hefty fall and winter shoes can suck up a ton of floor space in our closets or apartments. Having your shoes on display may be fun for Kimora Lee Simmons, but for those of us living in the real world, the last thing we want to see is our winter boots staring us down as we don gladiator sandals and mules. Get organized this spring season and put your fall and winter shoes away, so you have plenty of room to spot your warm weather favorites.
Organize all of the shoes you only wear in the fall and winter. This will be snow boots, rain boots (though some may want to keep these out, depending on where you live), Ugg-style boots and anything with faux or authentic fur or shearling should be stashed for the season. If your closet space is limited, go through items currently occupying your closet and be ruthless. It’s better to have ample space for items you love and use versus having items you seldom or never use clogging up precious closet space. Once you clean house on your closet, donate wearable items to a local charity. Just because you aren’t using it, doesn’t mean someone else can’t. Read more »
