Rest and Relaxation

December 6, 2011 Comments (0)

The holiday rush is on and moments to rest and relax are probably few and far between. But there are a few quick ways to rest your tired feet during this season of giving, wrapping, shopping, and celebrating….and they won’t cost you a dime.

Foot Massage
Professional foot massages can cost a small fortune…and they can take forever! So one of the best ways to sooth your tired feet is to simply soak them in a warm bath. Add a few drops of scented bath oils that you already have on hand to make the experience a little more luxurious and use those hands (or better yet the hands of your significant other) to rub a thick, luxurious moisturizer into your feet. Cover with a pair of socks to hold in the moisture and you’ll notice that you’ll feet will be smoother and ache-free.

Get off Your Feet
When your feet are screaming out in pain that means that it’s time to take a load off. Work a little shoe rest into your day by putting your feet up whenever you can. Bring a small foot stool to work and kick your feet out of those painful, yet fabulous high heels when you’re at your desk. Prop them up on your comfy stool and you’ll feet will feel much better by the end of the day.

Winter Wonderland

October 5, 2011 Comments (0)

It’s raining here today in what is typically sunny Southern California, and all of the girls in the office are super excited to finally have a chance to break out their ankle booties and rain boots (believe it or not, wearing ballet flats and peep-toes day in and day out can be a bit dull.) So in honor of our first chilly day of the season, I thought I’d dedicate this blog to the luxurious, glamorous, close-toed boots of fall.

Rainy Day
When the weather outside is frightful (and wet), you need to keep your feet warm and dry—and fashionable. If you’re feeling colorful on a cold, dreary rainy day, then strap on the Doris rain boots from TopShop. These pink rubber boots with a fanciful crazy daisy floral design can brighten up anyone’s day.

But if you’re in the mood for a more conservative look, then check out the Champery rain boots from  Hunter in classic black. They’re sleek, sophisticated, functional and fabulous.

Chilly Evening Out
For a fabulous evening out on a chilly night your best bet are a pair of shoes that are classic and comfortable with a luxurious edge. The Showie suede ankle bootie from Steve Madden features a stunning 4.5-inch stiletto heel and a fun zipper that runs diagonally from the top of the ankle to the heel.

But if you’re feeling a bit more daring (and are willing to spend a lot more cash), then check out the Kneehigh suede boot from Giuseppe Zanotti. These boots have a 4.5-inch heel and are the epitome of wintertime sensuality. But luxury doesn’t come cheap these days. These darlings will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $900.

Every Day Office Essentials
For chilly days at the office you’ll need to choose from looks that are a bit more conservative. The Alas from Anne Klein gets the job done with a 3.5-inch heel, side zipper, and a platform sole. And for a funky Texas-inspired look, go for the Texxie from Steve Madden. The tan cowboy-style boots have a modest 2.5-inch heel with a distressed leather look that will put a little country kick in your step.

Gray Shoes for the Office

August 17, 2011 Comments (0)

For the remaining days of summer you’ll want a light yet professional shoe look for the office. For those days when sandals just won’t do, you can always look to a pair of gray office shoes. Gray shoes are an easy way to make bright or printed dresses a little more summer friendly, and there’s nothing like a pair of gray pumps to make your outfit look on point. Here are a few of our favorite gray shoes for the office this season.

The Classics
For a classic pair of pumps with an exotic twist, try the Haya pumps from Pour La Victoire. These gray pumps are on the lighter side with a rounded toe and an easy-going 3 1/2-inch heel. The shoes are embossed for a lizard skin finish, which adds texture to your look. Summer is all about the luxe factor, from silk dresses to opulent jewels and exotic (or faux exotic) skins. You want to keep the lines clean and modern, but feel free to experiment with texture and bold color. The Haya pumps allow you to do that with ease since they’re luxe enough to garner attention, but don’t steal the show.

Just a Peep
Reach for a peep toe with the Ramonna pumps from Jessica Simpson. These smart pumps have a subtle peep toe and angular detail at the vamp. The 3 ½-inch heel is easy to get around in whether you’re going from meeting to meeting or spending the day in the office. Try the Ramonna pumps with a shrunken suit or any wrap dress in summer’s favorite colors, like red or orange. The subdued shoe brings the color down a notch, making intense hues far more wearable. Bonus points for the Ramonna pumps—you can wear them at night with a blouse and skinny jeans.

Wonderful Wedges
If you want something a little less conventional, look to the Edie wedges from Pour La Victoire. These are more of a taupe gray than a true gray, but fit into the neutral color family of shoes that are trendy this season. The Edie wedges have a pointed toe and covered wedge heel that measures in at 3 ½-inches. Wear them with your wide-leg trousers or skinny slacks, and don’t be afraid to sport them with a brightly colored full skirt. The Edie wedges can easily transition to the weekend. Just add rolled-up boyfriend jeans.

Summer Office Shoes

July 30, 2011 Comments (0)

Shoes are an easy way to infuse your fashionable sense of style into your office attire. There’s nothing like a pair of fabulous shoes to take your work basics from drab to fab, and this season there are plenty of awesome shoes that will amp up your style in the work place. From light neutrals to texture, look for interesting shoes that will add new dimensions while still maintaining an office-appropriate look.

Cage Effect
The Estrella pumps from BCBGeneration have cage details with cutouts throughout the body of the shoe. These shoes have a major platform, a fabulous 5-inch heel, and they’re available in camel and gray—both go-to neutral tones for summer and on into the fall. These pumps are perfect because they give a new spin to the basic office pump. Wear them with a shift dress and a lightweight cardigan or a wrap dress for a comfy look that’s office ready.

Low Key
The Sigrid pumps from Ralph Lauren are fit for those who aren’t used to heels or want a more comfortable heel on a daily basis. The Singrid pumps have a low 2-inch heel and rounded toe. The soft gray color works with brights for summer and can also be mixed with basic pieces you already own. Don’t worry about the suede fabric. Suede and leather are both a total go for fashionistas, evening during the summer.

Shine On
The Della d’orsay pumps from isola are a brilliant way to inject some drama into your work wardrobe. These shoes showcase a mix of colors (tan and black; and red and black) on the patent leather upper, hitting on the colorblocking trend perfectly. The Della pumps have a manageable 3-inch heel and peep-toe detail, and you can up the ante when wearing these shoes by pairing them with bright colors, sleek pieces, and a structured handbag. The look will be smart, yet fashionable, making them a perfect fit for the office.

Chic Summer Office Shoes

July 4, 2011 Comments (0)

Happy Fourth of July! Today, you’ve got the day off from work, but soon enough you’ll have to get back to the daily grind…and back to finding summer-worthy outfits and shoes that are appropriate for the office. Finding shoes that are comfortable for summer weather and for the office can become a bit challenging, so we’ve researched some of the best show-stopping office-worthy footwear finds that will keep you looking chic, cool, and oh-so well put together this season.

Cool and Casual
The coolest of styles for the office, the Mel peep toe from Fossil, has a sling-back design that makes them look less casual. This particular style looks elegant and features stitching details that will look fantastic with below-the-knee pencil skirts or wide cuffed trousers.

The chunky heel is one of the top “it” looks for the season, and the Carol Heel from Apepazza is right on the mark. These shoes feature a small peep-toe design that’s best worn with a neutral or light pedicure so the overall look won’t appear too overpowering. The additional thick cross strap ads balance to the upper and will look great with jeans on casual Fridays as well as a sharp pair of trousers.

Sculptural Heels
The Fulton Platform by Michael Kors has a stacked heel and a small platform, which will give you better balance while you maneuver around the office. A neutral upper blends in well with the wooden sole, and the slightly natural vibe of these shoes works best with floral tops and linen blazers or work slacks. When you need a slightly more summery design to lighten up an ensemble, this would be the pick.

Bruno Magli’s Olux Tortoise sandals are another way to get cool comfort without wearing something too light or simple in the office. These sophisticated T-strap high heels have cutout designs along the side that show a glimpse of your feet, and they’re perfect for adding a drop of subtle sex appeal to your office attire.

Modern Designs
Clogs for the office are extremely tricky. They can sometimes be a bit clunky and weigh down an outfit, which can conflict with the summery, yet professional look that you’re going for. But then there are the exceptions. The Stephanie Air S clogs from Cole Haan beautifully bridge the gap between high heels and true clogs. With a modern upper that features a stunning cut-out design and a heel height of 41/2 inches, these shoes look sophisticated and office ready.

The sleek Debbie pump from the Charles Jourdan collection is modernism at its finest. The nude suede peep-toe pumps (yes, you can wear suede in the summer, as long as it’s in a pastel hue) will give a flowing maxi dress an unexpected twist and will make you look sophisticated both at the office and at the new “it” downtown bar for after-work cocktails.

Shoes for Spicing Up You Work Outfits

November 10, 2010 Comments (0)

Putting together work looks can get boring. Some of us have strict guidelines for what we can wear to the work place, which makes it even less fun to style our daily outfits. Luckily, most can experiment with their shoes when it comes to work gear and here are a few new styles to shake up your office wardrobe and put a little pep in your step!

Go for an exotic look with the Rampid pumps from Steve Madden. Embossed to look like lizard skin, these pumps are a traditional shape, but speak volumes, especially worn in a bold shade. These pumps work year round and look great with pantyhose and tights, but equally fabulous with bare legs and peeking out from wide leg trousers. The Rampid pumps even work for a special occasion, which means you’re getting major bang for you buck.
