Wild Kingdom!

November 4, 2011 Comments (0)

Snake prints are everywhere this season, and as we see it, it’s the duty of the myShoes team to give you the inside scoop on all things exotic. So we’ve gathered up the best looks that the animal kingdom has to offer. It’s time to grab your snake-bite kit and be prepared to step out in the most sssstunning shoes on the market:

Flat Out Fabulous
The most comfortable way to rock the snake-skin look is in a pair of comfy flats, and the Vibrant style from TopShop is a great place to start. Not only are they sophisticated and a little bit dangerous, but the bow detail gives them a feminine edge. And for only $36 you’ve got no reason not to buy them.

But seeing as how woman can not live on ballet flats alone, there’s also the Nariko loafer/mocccasin style from Dolce Vita. The leather shoe features an embossed snake-skin print and offers an overall simple, subtle look.

High and Mighty
But if you consider “flat” to be a four-letter word, then perhaps you’d be more comfortable rocking the snake-skin trend in a pump/platform look. The Destiny style from Carlos by Carlos Santana is 4.5 inches of stiletto heaven. But the platform sole will keep your feet comfortable while looking fabulous.

And if you like a little color with your snake-like look, then check out the Sultry shoe from Topshop. The electric blue leather pump offers a sky-high 5-inch heel that will definitely get you noticed.

Boot Up
Chic boot styles are our last stop on the snake-skin train. If money is no object, then I offer you the Paige style from Alice + Olivia. It has a heel height of about 5 inches, a shocking red hue, and will look positively outstanding with a short LBD.

And for all of my budget fashionistas, there’s the Just Fun peep-toe bootie from Luichiny. They’re a steal at only $89.99 and feature just a hint of snake-skin detail at the top, on the heel and around the ankle. Sexy, chic, and fabulous.

Moccasin Inspiration: Complete Looks for Your Personal Style

September 15, 2011 Comments (0)

Instead of falling backward in style with your old dark boots, leap into the land of the fashion forward with moccasin-inspired footwear. Even though moccasin styles have popped up here and there for some time, they didn’t have what it takes to create a moccasin movement until these innovative new pairs by Minnetonka came along. Be the first to jump on this trend, and, with our styling tips, you’ll be able to rock this fresh new look without compromising your personal style.

Trendy Temptresses
Your new crop jacket and over-sized, flowing graphic T-shirt were made for each other. Wear them with a pair of form-fitting leggings and a statement knee-high boot. The Front Lacehi by Minnetonka is the trendiest pair of flat lace-up boots with fringe detail at the top. Their moccasin style sets them apart from ordinary boots and will give you that new fall look you’ve been searching for.

Bohemian Beauties
For the ladies who don’t want to sacrifice their bohemian style to the cool fall breeze, we’ve thought of a complete look just for you. Sport your new off-the-shoulder sweater with a statement necklace, ‘70s inspired wavy hair, and feather accessories. Finish the look with dark jeans and Minnetonka’s flat, mid-calf Woodstock boot. Fringe detail and bead embellishments add texture while lace-up detailing at the ankle preserves the moccasin look and ensures a snug fit.

Casual Cuties
Even though you love to wear jeans and flowing skirts, you’re not afraid to sport a pair of trendy sweats. You love to mix and match, which is why we found a shoe that will go with everything. Minnetonka’s Peace shoes boast a more traditional, slip-on moccasin design. These comfy flats offer stitching, fringe, and bow details, but it’s the studded peace sign that makes them stand out. You’ll be super comfy and extra stylish.

Budget Styling  Tip
If you’re trying to get more mileage out of last year’s sweaters, moccasins will update your old outfits. A pair of new statement shoes and a set of feather earrings are sure to bring a fresh feel to your old favorites.

Shoes We’re Loving – Minnetonka Moccasins

August 18, 2010 Comments (0)

Minnetonka Moccasins are classic shoes that make the rounds again and again. Though we weren’t always in tune with the stylish look that are moccasins, Minnetonka’s version has proved to us that sometimes going the traditional route is the smartest thing when it comes to fashion. There’s nothing that says these moccasins will go out of style anytime soon, so pick up a few tips on how to style your moccasins for a look that is comfy and hip.

If you’re in the mood for a ridiculously comfortable shoe, the Minnetonka moccasins are the way to go. The thick cushioned sole feels like you’re walking on air, no matter how much walking you do. The toe box is roomy, yet the style of the shoe and the soft suede material conforms to your foot, which practically creates a custom shape after you’ve worn them a few times. Moccasins are like driving shoes; they’re a classic shape that never falls off the map for long. Pictures from the ‘70s show chic stars like Bridget Bardot and Lauren Hutton wearing moccasins with ease. Read more »

The Comeback of the Loafer

July 3, 2010 Comments (1)

We’re not sure if we can call this an official comeback, since for some, loafers never went away. With the return to menswear-inspired shoes, loafers are hot on the heels of oxfords for becoming a new favorite style of shoe for the fashion-forward set.

Classic loafers like the Classic Ii from Eastland are the quintessential shoes for those who embrace mens-inspired shoes. Black leather makes these versatile. While you may wonder what to wear them with, we suggest pulling an Annie Hall and trading your black ballet flats for black loafers. Wear them with dresses or cropped pants, as well as rolled-up jeans or trousers. The key is to keep the look relaxed and approachable. Experiment with contrasting pieces like a silk blouse or lightweight dress to keep the look feminine.

Simple Shoes for Taller Women

June 23, 2010 Comments (0)

Are you a tall woman? These shoes are excellent for women who are over 5’7”, and you’ll love the way they fit, too.

1. Driving Moccasins: These simple flat shoes are comfortable, stylish, and 100% matchable with jeans or pants like cords or flat-front dress trousers. Driving moccasins are always flat, which means that you won’t look like you are going out of your way to wear shoes sans heels. If you fly often, these shoes are great to battle a chilly plane—fur-lined shoes even work in summer and are a must in winter. Summer-appropriate flat shoes can be light green or a delicate blue.

2. Mini Wedges: Mini wedges with wooden soles are fantastic, and you can get them in surprisingly low heights if you do a little hunting. These shoes might look like a wedge or a platform, but they’ll only increase your height by an inch or two, maximum. Mini wedges look great when paired with suede or microsuede, and they can easily be paired with super-dark denim.

How to wear moccasins

February 10, 2010 Comments (0)

Moccasins came onto the scene a few seasons ago. Celebrities like Kate Moss and Rachel Bilson keep them in pretty regular rotation. While moccasins were once perceived as hippy-dippy fashion, they’re now a crowd favorite among the stylish set. Moccasins have become a staple in many women’s wardrobes, and if you’re still fearful of looking like you’re wearing a costume when wearing them, read on for a few pointers to keep them fabulous.

Classic

Instead of taking a bohemian approach to moccasins, go classic. Think polo shirts, button-up oxford shirts and twill shorts or capri pants. Keep colors light and airy, focusing on earth tones and navy as your neutrals, as well as bold colors like pink, kelly green and canary yellow. Read more »
