Ditch Your Heels for Jeweled Flats This Holiday Season

December 29, 2010 Comments (0)

While sky high heels are tempting during the holidays, it’s only a matter of time before the blisters and feet make you look for another option. With ballet flats being all the rage, embellished ballet flats with jewels are perfect for holiday parties and hanging out with family.

Jeweled Flats Go Casual

Jeweled flats are perfect for those who travel during the holiday season because they can go casual or dressy. When wearing jeweled flats in a casual manner, play with texture. Try a cableknit sweater with a tweed skirt and tights or add texture with your tights by opting for a heathered or argyle print.

There’s nothing wrong with jeans with jeweled flats either. Dark rinse jeans work best for the holidays, since they have a more upscale feel than pale blues or stonewashed denim. Work your basic sweaters or knit tops with a pair of jeans and jeweled flats. Pick up the jeweled detail on your flats with a statement necklace for a pulled-together look that will have you looking polished through this hectic time of year. Read more »

Glamorous Shoes to Pack for Your In-Laws’ or Almost-In-Laws’ House

December 8, 2010 Comments (0)

Do you have a serious boyfriend? Are you engaged to be married? Packing for the in-laws’ is terribly stressful, no matter who you are, but it can be a little easier if you select a pair of never-fail shoes.

The Smart Gal: Leather Lace-Up Brogues

Brogues are the shoes usually associated with menswear that feature tiny pinholes along the upper seams. Leather lace-up brogues for women get fun touches like contrast laces and higher heels, and you’ll never be disappointed with the longevity of these shoes. Try adding leather laces to yours, and wearing them with a smart pair of pants like a front-creased pair of dark jeans.

The Classic Woman: Wool Ankle Boots

Wool ankle boots are a winning pair when worn with skirts, and they’re stylish without being too fussy. If you want to make a good impression, but you don’t want to dispense with your fashionable ways, wool ankle boots look cozy and cute with a holiday sweater. Why not try this way into your mother-in-law’s heart? Read more »

Gimme a lift!: Kitten Heels for the Holidays

December 6, 2010 Comments (0)

Flip open just about any fashion magazine right now, and then tell you that if you’re planning on hitting the party circuit – or hosting a soiree of your own – you should probably plan on wearing a pair of flats.

If, however, you like a hint of height in your life, consider springing for a pair of fun kitten heels. The small, delicate heel will give you the little lift you need – both in terms of height and in helping you feel more party ready – but won’t compromise comfort the way that say, a pair of towering 5 inch heels would.

The following are our favorite kitten heels for under $50 because you just can’t blow your holiday budget on gifts for yourself… again!

Novemberish Shoes

November 4, 2010 Comments (0)

This November, this is what we’ll be buying! It’s your chance to shop for yourself before the holidays, so take our top suggestions to heart.

Select a pair of shoes with rubber accents. If you want to wear your shoes as much as possible, then weather-minded elements are absolutely essential. Colored rubber accents (in fun shapes if you’d like) can also be added to your plain black boots’ soles or to the bottom of your simple lace-ups. Let the accents on the bottom serve as a nice pick-me-up.

Don’t be afraid of menswear-inspired footwear. Don’t balk at boots! Oxfords and boots might have a slim toe and sole, and they’ll look much more feminine than you expect. Menswear-inspired footwear doesn’t have to be in plain colors, either, and instead can be bright in squash or earthy in dark green. Suede laces are a nice touch at this time of year.
