Join the Glitterati

October 20, 2011 Comments (0)

You might need to cover up your feet in the cold, but you don’t need to cover up your style! Keep your shoes sparkling this fall to heat up your entire outfit. Rhinestones, sequins, and glitter have made their way into some stunning footwear collections, and they have come to rescue us from the plain, the ordinary, and the boring.

Luminous Lace-Ups
Staying glam in the cold is easy once you find the perfect ankle boots to wear. The Carnbyl shoe by Steve Madden is edgy, sparkling, and sky-high! It’ll keep your feet secure with its lace-up design fastened with a buckle while you rock these 5-inch stunners. But if you’re looking for something lower than a 5-inch heel, but want a similar style, the Grind by Bordello is your best alternative. This glittery black look-a-like gives you the same lace-up style with a mere 3.5-inch heel.

Lightening-Struck Pumps
The Lema pump by Michael Antonio elegantly displays your feet with a 5-inch heel, a mixture of suede and glitter, and a shimmering red ankle strap. You and your feet will shine, sparkle, and smile as you walk around in these dazzling beauties. If you want to stay glittery at a lower height, however, try the Xara pump by Killah in glistening silver. At 3.5 inches, these glamorous pumps give you added shine without the added height.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Shoe
You can still rock the glitter look even if you want to stay flat on the ground. The Yachtts flat loafer from Steve Madden is covered in gold sequins, and you can walk in them all day long. With a lace-up design, these perfect casual fall shoes will dazzle, glisten, and shine with every step you take.

Fall Shoe Do’s and Don’ts

September 26, 2011 Comments (0)

The autumn season is not only a chance to flex your favorite cold-weather fashions; it’s also a time to adhere to the season’s shoe do’s and don’ts. By abiding by these guideless you’ll all but ensure yourself a fabulous, fashionable fall.

Do Keep ‘em Clean: Nothing can cheapen a sleek, fabulous look faster than a pair of boots that are scuffed, beaten, and broke down. Before you strap on your favorite classic black boots and booties from last season, polish up the leather and give them a good shine.

Don’t Step out in Heels You Can’t Handle: Yes, high heels are perhaps the sexiest shoe style that the world has ever known, but if you can’t handle the height, then stick to shoes with lower heels (There’s nothing unsexier then hobbling and wobbling the night away as you struggle to maintain your balance.)

Do Listen to the Weatherman: If you’re going out for the evening and the forecast is for chilly temperatures, don’t think that you can get away with wearing stappy high heels or peep-toe booties. You’ll regret it the second you step out of the house and into the open air. Take the season as an opportunity to embrace fabulous close-toed options, such as the Caley knee high boot from isola or the Keats heeled oxfords from Miz Mooz.

Don’t Sit on the Sidelines: The whole point of fabulous party shoes is to look great while you dance the night away. So get out on the floor and strut your stuff!

A Look Back At– Color Blocking

September 21, 2011 Comments (0)

We’ve talked about color blocking before, but I’d like to reiterate my love for this trend. Every girl has two sides to her, so why not put that philosophy to use for shoes? With the color blocking trend you don’t have to settle for one shoe color–you can have both! Two solid colors working together to make one fabulous shoe that looks exquisitely unique from each angle, how bad could that be? Here are some of my eye-catching favorites.

Bright, Bold, and Beautiful
Keeping it bright and funky, the Ceci shoe by mymu gives you a 4-inch wedge heel with two outrageous colors–rusty red and a spunky purple! I would have never guessed that these two colors could work so well together. It might be the start of a beautiful friendship.

If you want to try this two-toned look, but don’t want the added height, look no further then the Tipsy shoe by Kate Spade. This flat look-a-like is tan with a blocked pink toe, giving you the color-block style while keeping you comfortably on the ground.

Playing Patch U
What’s better than two colors, you ask? Try 3! The rustic, yet elegant Android brown leather ankle bootie by Topshop keeps things interesting by adding patches of color. This 5-inch shoe has patches of light blue and rusty brown, giving it a rugged style with a neutral twist that blends perfectly with the colors of fall.

Classic With a Twist
Maintain the mystery with the classy and elegant Kassey peep-toed ankle bootie by Rachel Roy. With a 4 1/2-inch studded stiletto heel, a beige suede back, and a clean white front, this two-toned stunner will make on-lookers do several double-takes as you pass by.

Gladiator Style

September 19, 2011 Comments (0)

Fall may have come out swingin’ in most of the Lower 48, but there are a few warm spots in the country that will still allow you to step out in a pair of spectacular sandals. Gladiators are the style soldier’s chosen shoe, and we’re bringing you a few pairs with enough sugar and spice to fashionably carry you through this fall’s obsession with edge and attitude.

Warrior Princess Footwear
Fight for your love of fashion in the Xena. Available in bronze and white, these Apple Bottoms gladiators with a 1-inch wedge, zipper back, thick detailed straps, edgy studs and grommets, and braided detail guarantee a bold look. Embellishments and two tones of leather pack a chic fist full of attitude. Pair the Xena with your favorite dress or body conscious skirt to be the trendiest style soldier.

Sneakers Meet Gladiator Sandals
Some of us will always favor sneakers for school days. Why shouldn’t we? Sneakers come in an assortment of bold colors that make it easy to style your school day looks from the bottom up. For sneakers with an extreme twist, grab the Hena  by Punkrose. Making gladiator sandals and sneakers one in the same, the Hena boasts an open toe, classic sneaker laces, a caged style, and a lightning bolt detail at the heel for extra attitude.

Armed With a Shoe of Teal
With all the neutrals, rusty reds, and hot coco themed color palettes floating around this fall’s fashions, we don’t want to lose ourselves in a sea of dull shoes. Look dangerously fashionable in a colorful pair of gladiators like Naughty Monkey’s Beam Me Up sandals in teal. Leather straps and a diamond-shaped pattern of intertwined knots adorned by shimmering studs and grommets will have you dressed to kill.

Trend Spotting: Flatforms

September 13, 2011 Comments (0)

Fall has arrived, but don’t ditch the sandals just yet if you live in the sunny states of California, Arizona, or Florida. Continuous warm weather lets you stretch your summer style into fall, but new trends are always on the horizon when it comes to shoes!  Women all over the world have come to terms with sacrificing comfort for style for the sake of wearing height-lifting and leg-thinning high heels. But there’s a trend that we’ve reported on a few times in the past that warrants a refresher course for the early days of fall—flatforms!!

Whether you’re shopping for strappy sandals or basic flats, searching for a platform style will give you a quick height lift, but it still feels like you’re wearing a flat shoe. The Ava Vacchetta shoe by Kork-Ease is a perfect example of a comfortable platform that you could wear every day–a strappy tan sandal platform without the aching stiletto heel.  A more daring and funky flatform shoe would be Jeffrey Campbell’s Ringaling, which gives you a whopping 5-inch boost while still allowing you to walk flat on your feet.

Whether you need a daily 3-inch boost or are just looking for a unique style to spice up your shoe collection, the flatform shoe is a fabulous trend that you’ll no doubt be seeing throughout the warmer days of early fall.

Lacey Days- Lace on Shoes for Fall and Winter

November 11, 2010 Comments (0)

Lace is hot for fall and winter and there’s no better way to add drama to a simple cocktail outfit for a holiday party than with the sultry fabric.  Lace shoes are favored by actresses on the red carpet, not only because they add texture to a look, but because they add instant sex appeal.  Lace shoes are easy to wear with any dressy outfit and take a look from drab to fab in seconds.  Remember that black is almost always the best options and also the most versatile, if you’re wanting to make an investment in lace shoes.
