Spring Footwear Trends

January 6, 2012 Comments (0)

This spring there are plenty of fashion-forward trends lurking on the horizon, and we’re here to share the top three!

Wedge Works
We thought we’d seen the last of wedges last season, but it turns out that we were sorely mistaken. Brands like Prada and Valentino are continuing with the wedge trend and offering some fabulous footwear in the process. (We are specifically loving these Stud Bow Wedge from Valentino.)

High and Mighty
Unfortunately, your ankles will not be getting a break from sky-high heels this spring. Expect to see stilettos, which never seem to go out of style, everywhere you look in the upcoming months. Some of the most fashionable ways to increase your height include the Laverne from Michael Antonio and the Tribute from YSL.

Rainbow Bright
Make sure that your shoes of choice make a big, colorful impact this season. Red hot red will be a smash spring color, as well as brilliant cobalt blue, lemony yellow, and green. Styles like the Zippy from Madeline, the Kaula from Michael Antonio, and the Petra from Jessica Simpson are right in-step with the season’s hottest color trends.

Countdown to Christmas, Part I

December 1, 2011 Comments (0)

It’s December 1, which means that the Countdown to Christmas is on! You’ve only got 24 precious days left to shop, wrap, bake, and ship any and all presents to friends and family this year. And since you’re sure to have more than a few shoe-aholics on your list, I’ve put together part one of a 4-part list that will make gift giving a little easier this year. Today I’ve uncovered the perfect gifts for the ladies in your life who love color!

Green with Envy
We all have a friend and/or family member who loves, loves, loves anything bright, bold, and fabulous. So this year make sure she unwraps the brightest gift of them all. The Evelixa pump from Nina is a satin stunner with a sexy 4-inch heel. Its emerald green hue will make a beautiful contrast to a basic LBD!

Rainy Days
If it’s rainy, cold and gray outside, then there’s no better time to brighten up your look! These bright orange Original rain boots from Hunter will not only keep your feet warm and dry, but they’ll make you very easy to spot in a crowd!

The Bluest Eyes
These cobalt blue Colorblock Booties from Pierre Hardy are truly something to behold. The 4.5-inch stiletto heel may make balancing a bit problematic, but when your shoes are this fabulous, what’s a little vertigo? The $600 price tag definitely makes them a splurge, but the stunning craftsmanship and fierce color also make them a must-have.

Excellent Rear View

September 29, 2011 Comments (0)

When selecting a new pair of shoes for the fall, resist the temptation of the bland, boring black pump. Try something different by elevating your style with fabulous details on the back of the heel. Whether you need the shoes for an elegant wedding, an exclusive party, or a first date, you should look glitzy and glam from the front to the back.  The latest trend of decorated heels will keep you looking sleek, sexy, and ready for any occasion.

Flirtatious Ruffles
You might be hesitant at first when it comes to ruffles in your wardrobe, but ruffles around your toes are the perfect way to make any outfit a bit more fun, flirty, and chic. Charmone’s Cinnamon pumps in black blend the right amount of classic elegance with a flirty open toe. The ruffles on this shoe make it a unique addition to any basic, fancy, and classy evening outfit. The simple black pump with the ruffles peeping out from the back heel gives it a hint of coquettish subtlety.

Back-Bows
The Cristella shoe by La Soir is a delicious pump in a vivacious sultry shade of red! Made from satin with rhinestone detail, this shoe will make you look sophisticated, graceful, and totally daring. The bow on the back heel heightens your style, and the bright tone on this pump gives any outfit you wear it with a splash of color.

Studded Diva
Sam Edelman is known for making some outrageous shoes, and the Roza pumps in black stay true to his bold style. With a whopping 4 1/2-inch heel and the studded gold detail on the back of the heel, these pumps will surely be a show stopper. Dare to rock the studs on these divalicious pumps on your next night out!

3 Ways to Wear Red Shoes (Without Looking Red-iculous)

September 20, 2011 Comments (0)

While the color red evokes feelings of seduction, romance, and passion, wearing the vibrant shade the wrong way can create an unflattering disaster. With just a few hints, tips, and tricks you could feel glamorous and confident in your red shoes without feeling like you borrowed them from Bozo the Clown. Be careful though, you might just stop traffic when you walk around in these fabulous red finds!

Ready in Red
Ease your way into the risky road of red by starting off flat. The Adalia shoe by Hush Puppies fuses smooth red suede with brown leather to tame the wild red into a two-toned masterpiece that’s comfortable for everyday.
Do: Try these flats with a pair of your favorite dark skinny jeans and a cute leather clutch.
Don’t: Wear light, washed-out jeans with these shoes. The light contrasting with the dark red will make your outfit look sloppy.

C’est La Vie
Inspired by the chic, classic, Parisian style, Barefoot Tess’s Bordeaux pump gives you a European flare. The 3-inch heel on this red, rounded-toe beauty will make you feel elegant and stunning as you lounge around at a sidewalk café drinking a glass of Bordeaux.
Do: Wear a black, beige, or white dress with luscious, red lipstick to complement this shoe perfectly.
Don’t: Wear colors like green, pink, and blue. They’ll clash with this chic, elegant shoe.

Rock the Boot
Glam up your fall style with a splash of color by strutting in the 4 1/2-inch Cane ankle booties by Michael Antonio. The wedge heel on these red additions makes it comfortable in the rain, sleet, or snow!
Do: These booties go perfect with a pair of dark pants and a beige trench coat.
Don’t: A red coat and red shoes can make your outfit too loud. Try wearing one or the other, but never together.

Virgin Atlantic Flight Attendants Model New Heels

April 11, 2011 Comments (0)

If you don’t typically take style cues from flight attendants, perhaps you haven’t been flying Virgin Atlantic.

Seeing Red
Taking off Monday, April 3 (literally, on a flight from Manchester, England to Orland, Florida), female flight attendants wore new bright red, patent pumps, aptly dubbed Dorothy and Dotty (Dorothy, of course, is the girl who made scarlet shoes famous—Dotty for short). The shoes, which will be worn by all female airline attendants by this summer, are pretty simple in design. They feature a rounded, yet slightly elongated toe, low-cut side panels, and an approximate 2-inch heel that will make running up and down those aisles look effortless.

In a press release, Virgin’s Chief Executive Steve Ridgway noted that, “we have listened to our staffs’ comments and we have been working very hard to develop a pair of patent leather red shoes that will reflect the glamour of our iconic uniform…I am sure the new red shoe will add even more glamour to our female uniformed staff worldwide.”

Do it Yourself
Want to look like one of Virgin’s high-flying ladies? Then check out the almost identical Darla by TypeZ or the Marais by MaxStudio. Or, if an elongated toe is more up your alley, then check out the simple and sexy Ketchen5 by BCBG.
