Then, after you get used to them, there’s the challenge of making them look good. These styling tips for your spring menswear leave your feet feeling jazzy and looking great!
Sparkly Menswear Flats
A lot of sparkles mean that you can take it easy with the rest of your outfit. Don’t sweat little details, because your shoes are doing the talking. We’ve seen sparkly menswear flats worn with adorable a-line dress (complete with cute pockets) as well as carrot pants, and the effect is sweet, ladylike, and daytime-appropriate. Don’t save the metallics just for night!
Look to avoid: Sparkles worn with more sparkles can be daunting.
Two-Tone Flats
Two-tone menswear-type flats often have an upper design similar to spectator or saddle shoes, which feature a darker and lighter color-on-color effect. Two-tone flats look nice next to neutrals like creams and greys, but they also look stunning with floral patterns in primary colors.
Look to avoid: Two-tone flats worn with heavily patterned tights can be dizzying. Read more »

The Nova oxford shoes from David Tate are available in suede and leather, but it’s the dusty taupe suede pair that caught our attention. Colors like gray, taupe, and soft shades of pink and lilac are hot for fall 2010. Even with an all-black outfit, the taupe suede oxford shoes will add a fashion-forward spin. Menswear-inspired pieces are hot for spring and summer. Think structured twills and relaxed separates like vests, trench coats, and trouser pants. Of course accumulating all of those duds can be time consuming and costly, so get in on the trend with oxford shoes. Stars like Kate Moss and Sienna Miller have been sporting them for quite some time and they’re finally becoming mainstream on this side of the pond.
Choosing oxford shoes
Choosing the right oxford shoes for your wardrobe is crucial. You don’t want to go so outlandish that the shoes make it home with you only to sit in your closet. Think versatile when shopping for oxford shoes. You want something that will go with dresses, but also with a simple blouse and cropped jeans. Oxford shoes pack a quirky punch, so keep your clothing sophisticated.
Wing-tip oxford shoes are great in colors like black, chocolate or burgundy. While these colors are dark for spring and summer, they look great when wearing oxford shoes for an impressive affair like a dinner date. For oxford shoes that will fit daily looks, focus on navy, shades of gray and olive. These lighten up the shoe, while remaining versatile. If you want to go all-out, opt for silver or patent oxford shoes. These can compliment even the most classic outfits, as seen on reality TV star, Olivia Palermo.
Styling oxford shoes
Oxford shoes may seem like a fashion conundrum at first, but they’re among the easiest to style when it comes to the latest and greatest set of trendy shoes. Oxford shoes work for a creative office environment. Try them with a shrunken blazer and cropped twill pant for a fantastic look that’s pulled-together and on trend. Take a full skirt and belt it with a long sleeved sweater or T-shirt. Add a statement necklace and oxford shoes for a darling look that tries the trends without trying too hard.
If you need to take a more casual approach to oxford shoes, the possibilities are endless. Try your favorite sun dress accompanies by a cropped jacket and oxford shoes for an edgy look. Try skinny jeans or slacks with a body conscious blouse. Always remember to go feminine in your clothing to juxtapose the masculine feel of the oxford shoes.

Boyfriend jeans have been part of our style repertoire for quite some time – with The Gap even unveiling a line of their gender-bending jeans for baby girls – but now the trend of androgynous clothing is trickling down to the wild world of footwear.
The trend is perhaps most readily observed in the abundance of oxfords being spotted on the catwalks. In most cases, the Oxford stays true to its classic styling, but when worn on the feet of a sultry catwalk model, the more feminine elements, such as the delicate lace up detailing at the vamp, becomes even more obvious. Sure, Berlin is known as the coolest city in the world right now, but when it comes to fashion, the looks have been taking a while to catch up to level of the art and music being created in this town. Fashion Week showed that these crazy kids are starting to get a bit more sophisticated about the unique happening that is currently Berlin.
On and off the runway, Berliners (and their many transplants) ditched the usual sneakers for sleeker choices. The clothes, with lots of capes and giant, architectural, draping pieces that cover most of the body, require something with more polish than a rubber-soled lace-up, but this is not a stiletto kind of town.
So what to do? The most common choice was a smooth and, fitting for Berlin, unisex dance shoe of the jazz practice variety- small block heel, delicate lace-up, and soft leather upper. This is, you could say, the dressed up sneaker of Berlin. Read more »
