{ a blog all about the love of shoes }
Change your shoes, change your look. It seems no matter what we’re wearing, swapping a pair of classic ballet flats for a sky high pair of platform heels will completely change a look in mere seconds. The same can be said of allowing you to try out new trends that may be difficult to wear in terms of clothing, but a breeze to wear on your feet. Check out the top shoe trends for spring 2010 and take your pick of all of the fabulousness fashion has to offer this season.
Nautical Details
Nautical takes over spring with the traditional red, white and blue motif. Look for gold metal details, rope-like accents, grosgrain ribbon trim and wood or cork soles. Wearing the nautical trend can make you look like it’s Halloween, but sporting the trend on your feet is a walk in the park. Keep your ensemble classic. To avoid a look that’s too mature, stick with structured, architectural pieces like a petal hem skirt or asymmetrical blouse or dress. Stick with neutrals like light gray, beige and bronze and let the shoes speak for themselves. Nautical-inspired shoes are adorable for day.
Zipper Accents
This trends appears on blouses and dresses, so it was just a matter of time before it popped up on our feet. Exposed zippers add a sultry spin to an outfit and can add to a sexy silhouette like a fitted bandage dress or pencil skirt. Avoid shoes that pack zippers and another trend into one shoe, which can be overkill. Instead, let the zippers serve as your unexpected element. Zipper details look great year round, so consider these a wise investment.
Peep-Toe Booties
Peep-toe booties continue to reign for spring and summer 2010. While high fashion had its dose of peep-toe booties for the past couple of seasons, the trends has finally become mainstream and will trickle into mass retailers. Sport peep-toe booties day or night and be on the cusp of fashion. Wear them with skinny jeans, leggings, skirts or dresses. If wearing peep-toe booties with an exposed leg, be sure the bootie hits at the slimmest part of the leg – the ankle. Anything that hits at the calf will add bulk and make you appear shorter.
