Denim is everywhere right now.  Not only are jeans themselves front and center in fashion, the classic American fabric is the must-have style for shirts this spring and even for shoes, where designers are exploiting its youthful, utilitarian connotation in a new format.  Denim, you might say, is the new black.  It goes with everything (except itself, please!) and it goes everywhere.

This is the quintessential high/low fabric, so it’s no surprise that designers across the fashion spectrum are embracing denim.  You can get your fix in denim-covered Ugg boots, which look surprisingly adorable (really!), or Yves Saint Laurent glamour sandals with a stacked heel long enough to kill somebody but still appealingly casual thanks to the playful denim upper.  Classic espadrilles look especially ready for this summer in their jeans makeover, great for the beach or hanging out in the hot city.

Sneakers are getting the jeans treatment as well, giving them a more sophisticated, high style look that’s perfectly in tune with this season’s designer sneaker obsession.  Brands like D Squared and Robert Clergerie are riffing off this craze with kicky high heel platform sneakers in denim with super new silhouettes.

With their refreshing use of such a timeless material, shoes in denim look incredibly modern and new, and can instantly perk up a basic outfit of leggings or shorts (don’t forget to skip the jeans! No overkill necessary unless that’s really your thing.)  They go beautifully with every dress, and add unconventional charm to your little floral summer styles.
