Common Foot Problems and How to Solve or Cure Them

April 1, 2010 Comments (1)

Do you have trouble with your feet? Whether you spend all day on your feet or sitting down at a desk, there are plenty of problems that arise from having your feet in the wrong shoes. Here at MyShoes, we’re always after the comfortable ones, so here’s how we find the correct ones to solve several foot maladies. While a visit to the doctor could be in order, there are ways to cut down on minor foot pain quickly and without much expense.

Burning Feet: Tight shoes can make your feet hurt and burn, especially when paired with the pinching from cheap or synthetic footwear. If you suffer from foot problems, consider looser shoes from natural materials, and ones that feature a padded upper with lots of ventilation. You’ll also appreciate shoes with a flat sole and a supportive upper that supports and cushions the ankle.

Hammertoe
: When your shoes don’t fit correctly, you can get hammertoe quickly– especially when you are genetically inclined already. Hammertoe can be an especially challenging problem, because they easily lead to complications like ulcers or infections. Your first course of actions should be seeing a podiatrist, you should make sure that your feet are moisturized and soft. Your shoes need to have a wide heel and should also feature silicone toe caps to keep your feet safe.

Arch Pain or Strain: Ouch! Do your feet get sore along the arch area over time? According to health professionals, arch strain occurs when the foot is stretched and pulled in specific areas. If you are having foot trouble, try wearing wide shoes with special inserts to support and protect flat feet or high arches. When you get home, try applying an anti-inflammatory gel or icing your feet.

Sweaty Feet: Yuck! Do your feet sweat all the time? Synthetic shoes are often the problem when you have very sweaty feet, but there are quick steps that you can take to decrease the wetness and odor in your shoes. Buying leather shoes is an excellent first step for cutting down on foot sweat, and you can soak up wetness with hosiery and breathable socks. Add odor-cutting inserts in your shoes to decrease odor further and absorb moisture.

Warts
: You will definitely need to get your feet treated by a doctor if you have warts. Warts are contagious and can really hurt, and your doctor can figure out the best way to cut down on the pain and discomfort. After your feet are treated, buy new shoes that are breathable and practical, and start wearing them regularly for longer periods of time.

Have you ever suffered from one of these common foot problems? I have a few of the above, but I’ve managed to decrease permanent or long-lasting effects by employing these techniques.

  1. That’s really good information. I had developed hammer toe of late and I was looking for a doctor. I read somewhere about Park Plaza Foot Specialists and their efficient podiatrists. I met them and now I am under medication. My hammer toe as improved since the time I first visited them, and the doctors don’t think I will need a surgery. Hope I can kill the pain.
