This spring there are plenty of fashion-forward trends lurking on the horizon, and we’re here to share the top three!
Wedge Works
We thought we’d seen the last of wedges last season, but it turns out that we were sorely mistaken. Brands like Prada and Valentino are continuing with the wedge trend and offering some fabulous footwear in the process. (We are specifically loving these Stud Bow Wedge from Valentino.)
High and Mighty
Unfortunately, your ankles will not be getting a break from sky-high heels this spring. Expect to see stilettos, which never seem to go out of style, everywhere you look in the upcoming months. Some of the most fashionable ways to increase your height include the Laverne from Michael Antonio and the Tribute from YSL.
Rainbow Bright
Make sure that your shoes of choice make a big, colorful impact this season. Red hot red will be a smash spring color, as well as brilliant cobalt blue, lemony yellow, and green. Styles like the Zippy from Madeline, the Kaula from Michael Antonio, and the Petra from Jessica Simpson are right in-step with the season’s hottest color trends.

There’s been a lot of camouflage action in shoe trends lately, and I’m not talking about the beige and green army pattern. The wedges on ankle booties have been in hiding, no longer to be seen, and covered with the fabric of the shoe. Incorporating the wedge into the whole shoe creates a mystique about them—and I love it! Here are some of my favorite ways to catch up on this trend, and find out which shoe reigns supreme.
Cute and Casual

When an outfit and a shoe don’t complement one another, the whole get-up is destroyed. For the remaining days of summer you’ll want a light yet professional shoe look for the office. For those days when sandals just won’t do, you can always look to a pair of gray office shoes. Gray shoes are an easy way to make bright or printed dresses a little more summer friendly, and there’s nothing like a pair of gray pumps to make your outfit look on point. Here are a few of our favorite gray shoes for the office this season.
The Classics
For a classic pair of pumps with an exotic twist, try the Haya pumps from Pour La Victoire. These gray pumps are on the lighter side with a rounded toe and an easy-going 3 1/2-inch heel. The shoes are embossed for a lizard skin finish, which adds texture to your look. Summer is all about the luxe factor, from silk dresses to opulent jewels and exotic (or faux exotic) skins. You want to keep the lines clean and modern, but feel free to experiment with texture and bold color. When it comes to wedges for summer, most of us think of espadrilles and raffia-infused wedges with girlie elements. While this look is adorable, most of us have been there and done that. What kind of wedges are we craving for the remaining days of summer? How about wedges that make a style statement, while staying appropriate for hot weather months.
Urban Legends
We’re talking about wedges that have an urban spin. Wedges that will get you noticed in a crowd, but keep with the light feel of summer. Our pick to achieve this look is the Mercer wedge from Michael Antonio. We love Michael Antonio for the brand’s affordable, super trendy looks. After all, this trend may not be around this time next year, so why spend a bundle? The Mercer wedges are just under $80 and can be worn day or night.
Choosing a Color
Even if you’re the queen of all-black everything, you’ll want to go lighter when it comes to wedges this summer. Shades of gray, taupe and brown are the way to go. Check out the Night Cap style from Luichiny if you’re going for a truly funky look. These light tan peep-toe wedges can make a dark outfit more appropriate for the season, especially if you add a shot of color with an accessory or funky toenail polish.
How to Wear Them
Since wedges have a tendency to weigh you down on the bottom, remember to keep your clothes super light and feminine for balance. A frilly blouse or silk top is the way to go, especially in a pastel or bright color. Lace has been a major trend for summer, and a lacey cardigan over a tank top, or a blouse with lace sleeves will work well with dressy shorts and wedges. You can also try loose pants with a tapered leg.
