Motorized Shoes

January 12, 2012 Comments (1)

If you’ve always felt as though your own two feet simply can’t get you where you want to go fast enough, your time has finally come.

It turns out that after years of good old-fashioned R&D, the motorized shoes known as spnKiX will hit stores in March. The battery-powered skates strap onto your shoes and can power you around town at up to 10 mph.

Thankfully, the shoes do not come with a mind of their own, so there’s no need to think that you’ll be zooming around town uncontrollably. You can actually control the speed of the spnKiX with a handheld remote.

But of course, advanced technology doesn’t come cheap. They’re expected to retail for $649 a pair (more than a pair of flip-flops, but considerably less than a pair of Louboutains!)

Spring Ahead!

January 4, 2012 Comments (0)

Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to start thinking about all things spring: short shorts, tank tops, Spring Break, and most importantly…cute spring shoes!

I’ve put together a list of some of the most compelling spring/summer sandals that are definitely on my must-have list!

Flat Out Fabulous
The Bethanyy shoe in teal from Steve Madden is a clear winner for the season. It’s colorful, practical and will look fantastic with anything from short shorts to a flowing sun dress.

The Twist from Carlos by Carlos Santana is minimalism at its best. Not only are these sandals perfect for showing off a summer pedicure, but the ankle strap will keep your foot securely in place (which prevents that annoying flap, flap, flap sound.)

The Bow Front Lace Print Jelly Sandal from GoJane is the ultimate easy, breezy beach bum shoe. It features a girly bow at the toe and will see you through from a morning walk on the beach to an evening bonfire with the girls.

Take a Breath

December 9, 2011 Comments (0)

I just wanted to take a minute to remind all of the myShoes ladies out there to shop smart this weekend. There are only TWO MORE SHOPPING WEEKENDS left before Christmas, so you’ve got to make every moment count.

But while you’re bobbing and weaving through the mall this weekend to avoid strollers and small children and still get the best holiday deals, remember to take a breath. The holidays only come around once a year, so take a little time to focus on having fun, and enjoying your friends and family.

Happy Holidays!

Dream Shoes

October 27, 2011 Comments (0)

We all have fabulous style, but we don’t always have the finances to indulge our tastes. So I pose the question to myShoes readers: What’s your dream shoe for the season? Is it a pair of Uggs to keep out the winter chill? Thigh-high Louboutin’s to indulge your funky side?

Let us know what your dream shoe is for fall/winter 2011 and we’ll post the results in a blog next month!

Trend Alert: Sandals for Semi-Formal Events!

October 18, 2011 Comments (0)

For all the ladies who are lucky enough to still be enjoying warm weather, there’s a fresh new shoe trend floating around Los Angeles. Trendsetting young ladies are rocking their embellished flat sandals to semi-formal events like dinners, evenings in the city, baby showers…you name it. But even though this trend sounds simple, there’s a method to making the style look sophisticated and fabulous.

Step 1: Stay Flat
There are so many times that we wind up doing so much more walking than we intended. Maybe the closest parking to your friend’s birthday dinner is a ½-mile trek from the restaurant, or you get a little lost exploring the city. Either way, this trend is for the ladies who prepare to strut their style comfortably.

Step 2: Put in Effort
To make this trend work, your sandals have to pair well with your overall look. For a basic sandal with a statement grab the ballenh in white from Sheik. The braided T-strap with a chain detail adds a stylish touch. The ballenh is also available in bold colors like blue and pink for your color-blocking needs.

Step 3: Go all the Way with Detail
Choose sandals with details that give them a semi-formal appeal. The multicolor Wheel of Fortune sandals by Seychelles boasts a sophisticated floral print on soft fabric that drapes around your ankle and across your toe. To get glittery, opt for the Anthology by Seychelles. A thick T-strap coated in beads and stones is semi-formal all on its own.

Final Thoughts
We’re big fans of budget-friendly shoe trends. And even though ankle breakers are still show stopping shoes for parties, when you’re meeting up with gal pals or heading to a community event there’s nothing wrong with a touch of California casual.
