A Perfect Match

June 27, 2011 Comments (1)

Out of the hundreds of shoes that fill your closet, why not try to pick a pair that complements your personality? By doing so, both you and your shoes will shine a little brighter.

Outgoing and Bubbly
If you have a bubbly personality, try a pair with some embellishments. If full-on studs or sequins are a little too bold for the occasion, go for shoes with slightly more subtle seed bead touches along the vamp or appliqued additions on the upper. (We love the Embellished Leatherette Sandal from Go Jane.)  A pair decorated with a row of buttons can also be an excellent choice, or go wild with shoes adorned with crafted leather ribbons, bows, and buckles.

Secretly Shy
If your style is a little more reserved, try a fresh new take on the classic Oxford. The revamped versions of this shoe may have cutouts along the sides, bright laces, or they could simply feature a textured upper that allows for great ventilation and a little bit of extra style, too. Hate flats? A low, wooden heel on your oxfords is also cute, while remaining practical.

Brainy Bookworm
Leather sandals are a great alternative for someone who usually values usefulness over trendiness. These sandals have all the practicality that you adore, but they can still look incredibly luxe if dressed up. Look for ones constructed with rich mahogany-colored leather that can be buffed into a fresh shine with oil or polish if they ever become dull. If you have an eye for fine things that don’t involve the fuss, these shoes are a great compromise.

Adventurous Explorer
For the globe-trotting individual, boat shoes keep your feet comfortable while exuding an air of casual chic. Designed to outfit the nautical set, they are now the perfect option for ladies who want to stay comfortable and classy during travel. Easily washable and available in a wide range of colors and patterns that camouflage any wear and tear from your explorations, they’ll work well all summer long.

Beach Babe
If the ocean is your home away from home, try one of several styles designed to optimize your time in the sand and surf. Choose from flip-flops for the sand, barefoot technology for the water, or mesh shoes with elasticized straps for trail trekking. Try to marry good looks and performance details for the best combination. If you pick a pair of shoes with rubber soles, they will last longer and provide sure footing no matter when you go.

Traveling Shoes, South American Edition

September 30, 2010 Comments (0)

Are you traveling to South America soon? We’ve got a little primer list of what you can consider bringing along with you. Note: we’ve actually been to South America, if you were wondering!

Rubber Flip-Flips, Two Pairs
Why rubber flip flops? You need one pair for the shower, and another pair for changing into for quick trips outside. Even if you are not a fan of rubber sandals, even one pair will do you well in South America, especially now—it’s spring down there! The breezes are blowing, and the weather is balmy. Rain could come at any time, and who wants to spoil her shoes?

Heeled Wedges
Wedges are a popular silhouette in South America, and if you want to blend in with the locals, this is how you do it! Your heeled wedges don’t have to be high and they don’t have to be expensive, but it would help if you get a pair that matches with nearly everything. Black or brown strappy wedges with plain soles are ideal. Read more »

It’s Time to Buy Sandals

July 12, 2010 Comments (0)

Now’s the time to buy sandals! We are grabbing a ton of deals this week, all thanks to pre-fall sales and new styles being added to the inventory. If you want to grab yourself some sandals, then it’s time to look for these particular designs online.

*Fuzzy Sandals: “Fuzzy” sandals can describe a lot of different kinds of shoes, but one of our favorites has to be in soft suede with an extremely delicate hand. Shoes made from quality suede will have a high nap and won’t react nicely to water drops. With care and attention, these sandals will sail through next season as well. Keep an eye out for forest green, charcoal grey, and peach!

*Braided Touches: If you want a pair of sandals that look a little rough-and-tough for vacationing, get a pair with braided cord around the feet, either as a toe thong or as an additional touch solely for fashionable purposes. Dark brown is a smart color to wear when you are vacationing, because it doesn’t reveal grit and grime. You can also find a pair with ankle straps if you need something that feels more secure.

*Layered Sandals: Layered sandals can look funky or elegant, depending on what style you find. Simple ones will have an additional strap layered right over the primary strap or upper, while others will have “scales” in different soft colors of leather cascading from the main strap. You can also find sandals that combine fabric and leather for a multi-textured look.

Thong Alternatives: Sandals with a Toe Ring

June 29, 2010 Comments (0)

Sure, everybody loves a good ol’ fashioned thong sandal, but when it comes to summer sandals, there’s one warm-weather style that is so often overlooked: The toe ring sandal.

While simple in premise – a strap that encompasses the big toe – this style takes on a number of different iterations. In some cases, a toe ring shoe can look like a flip flop with an extra side strap at the inner edge of the shoe, can include great expanses of skin and just a slither of a strap over the biggest little piggy, or include a series of straps, one of which happens to single out the big toe. Great Shoes to Try If You’re Vegan

June 27, 2010 Comments (0)

Vegans might have it hard sometimes when it comes to dressing up and finding shoes they love, but these suggestions can make things a lot easier. Whether you strictly don’t wear leather or you’re trying it out this summer, these suggestions will take you far.

Canvas Uppers

Canvas is certainly one of the best materials to wear in the summer, if you are a vegan or otherwise. Canvas uppers can be patterned or plain, but one of the best things about them is their washability. If you’re a neatnik, these are the shoes to try! Be sure to look into Toms, which gives one pair of shoes to kids who need it when you buy a pair.

A Fashionable Flip Flop: Dressing up a Summer Staple

June 24, 2010 Comments (0)

What’s not to love about the summer flip flop? They’re simple, cool, comfortable, and (for the most part) low cost.

The only problem? Well, they’re hardly appropriate for formal wear (we’re talking to you, ladies of Northwestern University, who opted for the flops for a trip the White House!) The good news, however, is that designers have taken note of our penchant for these summer classics and experimented with fun and funky ways to dress up these summer staples.
