{ a blog all about the love of shoes }
Attention tree huggers! OAT shoes have developed the first ever completely biodegradable shoes. And attention shoe lovers! They’re actually kinda cute!
Making their debut at Amsterdam International Fashion Week – where they nabbed second place in the Green Fashion Competition – the shoes are the product of two years of tireless research and development which included visiting craftsmen, as well as swinging by the factories of modern shoemakers, to identify the optimal combination of materials and manufacturing. Sherbert shades are it for spring and summer. Pastel shades have been on the back burner for quite some time, but for spring and summer 2011, they’re back and rightfully so. What’s so different about sherbert shoes this time around is they’re being paired with more upscale and grownup pieces then we’ve seen them with in the past. Think structured, smart separates and dresses that will elevate the style level of girlish shades like lavender and cotton candy pink.
Pink Lady
The Gap City Flat in pale pink is an affordable winner for spring 2011. The budget-friendly shoe is perfect for the weekend and for some, can go to the office as well. With a super girlie shoe like these, you want to keep the rest of your outfit sleek and chic. There’s no rule saying you can’t wear these pale pink Gap flats with floral prints, but remember you don’t want to look like a child who’s discovering color for the first time. Instead, pair pale pink with shades of gray, navy, grass and army green for a more sophisticated spin on the color. The pink Gap City Flats would work well with a shrunken navy blazer and sharp trousers.
Orange You Glad?
A stunning coral shade like these Melissa Shoes aren’t just brilliant for jumping on the sherbert-colored shoe trend. They’re also a great pick because they implement texture the way few spring and summer shoes can. Constructed of raffia, the shoes mimic the look of coral in the ocean. It’s a fun weekend shoe that will work with high waist full skirts, vintage dresses and ankle-skimming pants and a structured blouse. These shoes are unique, but look great contrasting city pieces and can also go on vacation with loose maxi dresses and capri pants. Read more »
2011 will bring us good cheer and fashionable outfits, we hope, but we’re always looking for an excuse to start things off right. These are the shoes that top our shopping list for 2011, and we are getting shopping right away!
Ergonomic Dance Footwear
Does this sound crazy to you? It’s not, we promise. Ergonomic footwear is excellent for wearing around home during the winter, and there are some new, conceptualized items that leave part of the foot bare to give the impression of walking (or dancing) barefoot. Of course, regular ballet flats will do, too. Read more »
Black shoes have a reputation for being no-nonsense and possibly boring, but that’s crazy talk, we say! We’re drooling over so many different pairs in classic black that we thought we should share some of our favorites. Why not get money-smart this time of year?
Skinny-Laced Boots
Slim laces on a pair of boots add a lighter, more feminine vibe to the heaviness of a black shoe. Skinny-lace boots often look best paired with a squared-off, medium-height heels and a contrasting midsole. Those ones with broguing accents are our favorite this season, because they have an extra bit of punch.

Stacked wooden heels have popped up since the clog trend has become so prominent. We thought clogs might have faded away with the warmer months, but come fall and winter, designers decided to tack wooden heels onto boots too. They’re cute and add an organic element to your outfits, but how practical are they for real life?
The thing is, everything’s easier in the spring and summer. The humid weather gives us all this carefree attitude to let down our hair. Winter does the exact opposite. Going out is a drag if the weather is too cold and we all feel about 10 pounds heavier when we’re bundled up with layers of sweaters and a hefty coat. Wooden heels also have a heavy look at times, which makes them difficult to wear with winter clothing. Is it impossible? No, but definitely tricky.

We all know booties and ankle boots are white hot for 2010, but if you already own black or brown, where else can you go? Lots of places! Buckles, exposed zippers, colored suede and wedge heels are just a few of the details to spot on trendy booties you can start wearing now. Forget the basic colors! Winter is dull enough as it is, when it comes to your footwear, go bold and add some life to your short days.
The Daki boots from Steve Madden look like a pair that fashion bloggers will adore. Available in ivory and a whiskey brown with red undertones, these booties are a welcomed alternative in a world of black and dark brown boots. These boots are perfection with dark rinse jeans and any other ‘70s-influenced apparel you can get your hands on. Wear them with patchwork garments, faux fur, khaki and cords for a fun look that is comfortable too. The Daki boots boast a low wedge heel, which means they offer support without going overboard.
