Get Your Dancing Shoes On

October 27, 2010 Comments (1)

Are you looking for new inspiration for the dress-me-up season? Take these suggestions to heart when you’re shopping for your fancy shoes.

Sparkly Heels

Look for high heels, the more encrusted, the better. Sparkly heels can be covered in anything from gold sparkles to clear, rounded gems, but the choice is yours. The more festive your shoes are, the more fun they will be! Grab a matching clutch with trim in the appropriate color or pattern, and then all you need is a black dress. Read more »

September 29, 2010 Comments (0)

If you’ve been scanning the shoe racks – both in person and in cyberspace – and coming up short, perhaps its time to look at Hale Bob shoes. Launched in 2001 by Moroccan-born designer, Daniel Bohbot, the shoes combine the finest materials with interesting shapes and trends to create shoes that are both fun and feminine. And, at prices ranging from $30 to about $125, Hale Bob shoes fit just about every budget!

For a sweet soiree, consider the Kelsey, which is available in your choice of silver or gold and features a contoured strap at the toe complete with floral bead embellishment. A covered heel and slender ankle strap keep these shoes from looking too summery, while a 3 inch wedge heel will give you more than a hint of height. Read more »

How to Wear Metallic Shoes

August 4, 2010 Comments (0)

Metallic shoes are still going strong, but some women have issues with how to fit them into a wardrobe. The great thing about metallic shoes is they serve as a neutral. Ditch your staples like black and brown for pewter or bronze, colors that go with nearly everything but also add some sparkle to an outfit.

Metallic shoes are darling and work for the office and the weekend. Consider the colors you usually wear when shopping for metallic shoes. If you stick to black and cool tones like blue, purple and green, you are going to benefit most from silver-tones shoes. For those who love earthy and warm tones, reach for gold. Dusted suede or metallic shoes in pewter or bronze are more versatile since they tend to pick up the hue they’re worn with, giving you more options. Read more »

This summer, I literally can’t step out of my gold shoes. Whether paired with shorts and a simple t-shirt or with a so-cute summer dress, these golden flats just seem to go with everything!

The following are a list of my favorite gold flats at a price point that will suit every fashionista!

If you’re looking for the quintessential ballet flat, then it doesn’t get more basic then the Queenie by SM New York, which features a simple ballet bow at the rounded toe and clocks in at an extremely budget friendly $15. Looking for something with a little more flair? Then consider the Gamba by Apple Bottom, which features a flirty peep toe topped with an oversized buckle with rhinestone detail, all for less than $20.

For just a few bucks more, you can score the Bow by Wanted, which belies its $30 price tag by sporting an ultra-glitzy gold upper complete with ribbon weave detailing at the toe and foot opening. Another great, still budget-friendly option is the Babette by Dolce Vita, which boasts an upscale lizard print upper complete with contrasting trim and an open toe at just over $40. Read more »

Go Soft This Summer with Metallics

June 18, 2010 Comments (0)

Metallic shoes popped up on the fashion radar a few years ago. They have never gone “out,” but the days of blinding metallic shades are over. If you can practically see yourself in the shoe, it’s time to pass. Move on to soft shades of metallic that are flattering and look chic versus costume party-worthy.

Look for sueded or dusted metallic shoes. These are available in flats, sandals and wedges for summer 2010. The sueded metallic creates a softer look, utilizing the same color. Instead of a bright yellow gold, you have a refined, shimmering gold. It’s easier to wear and also translates more places. Let’s face it – teenagers have adopted metallic shoes as their moniker and the last thing you want to do is end up with the same flats as a 16 year old (even if she is a stylish one).

Soft metallic flats are suitable for the office, pretty much no matter what your business is. Unless you have a strict dress code, soft metallic flats can add a feminine feel to your office outfits. Take your favorite dark sheath dress. Add a light cardigan in gray or pink and accent with silver flats. The glimmering shoes will add a bit of sparkle that’s trendy without being over-the-top, which is exactly the fashion angle you should aim for in the office.
