Shoe New Year’s Resolutions

January 6, 2011 Comments (0)

Pushing yourself forward in the fashion realm is a great New Year’s resolution that will force you to take pride in your appearance and take a few extra minutes to elevate your style. It doesn’t have to consume you, but changing up your shoe habits can inject new life to your wardrobe and put some pep in your step, making it a fabulous New Year.

1. Go ultra bright.

Wearing a pair of neon shoes will make you stand out in a crowd. If you’re scared of major color, go for an electric blue or vibrant purple versus a neon pink pair of pumps. Wear the shoes with subdued colors for a look that’s right on the money and mimics the neutral and brights trend we saw on the runways for the SS 11 fashion season. Even over-the-top bright shoes can go to the office when worn with a simple sweater and smart skirt. Keep your hair and makeup polished to keep the tone of the look professional versus trendy fashion victim. Read more »

Gimme a lift!: Kitten Heels for the Holidays

December 6, 2010 Comments (0)

Flip open just about any fashion magazine right now, and then tell you that if you’re planning on hitting the party circuit – or hosting a soiree of your own – you should probably plan on wearing a pair of flats.

If, however, you like a hint of height in your life, consider springing for a pair of fun kitten heels. The small, delicate heel will give you the little lift you need – both in terms of height and in helping you feel more party ready – but won’t compromise comfort the way that say, a pair of towering 5 inch heels would.

The following are our favorite kitten heels for under $50 because you just can’t blow your holiday budget on gifts for yourself… again!

Extravagant Shoes for Holiday Parties

November 17, 2010 Comments (0)

Shoes are the way to add that wow factor to any outfit. If you choose to go the all-black route for a holiday party or amp it up in a sparkling cocktail dress, extravagant shoes push the look even further. If you aren’t sure where to start, check out our picks. Keep in mind trends like lace, platform soles, jewels and color for adding more drama to your look.

Cutout booties are hot for fall and winter and the Damsell booties from Steve Madden are hot for wearing to any holiday shindig. These booties have sheer ruched fabric through the foot and ornate tulle embellishment streaming down the front of the shoe. The Damnsell booties are available in black, blush and a mix of both, which are our favorite. Use these for adding a trendy element to a classic little black dress or with a tailored top and skinny slacks.

November 17, 2010 Comments (0)

Ok, I’ll admit, so far my holiday social calendar is looking a little sparse. However, I refuse to fret. After all, it’s not that I’ve got a shortage of friends, rather that I have an abundance of procrastinating friends!

As the consummate planner of the group, I’ve already started thinking about what this upcoming holiday season will look like, starting first with my shoes. Indeed, this year, I’ve found the ultimate, “the fairy on the Christmas tree ain’t got nothing on these shoes” shoes and I plan to wear them hear there and everywhere this upcoming cocktail party season.

Lacey Days- Lace on Shoes for Fall and Winter

November 11, 2010 Comments (0)

Lace is hot for fall and winter and there’s no better way to add drama to a simple cocktail outfit for a holiday party than with the sultry fabric.  Lace shoes are favored by actresses on the red carpet, not only because they add texture to a look, but because they add instant sex appeal.  Lace shoes are easy to wear with any dressy outfit and take a look from drab to fab in seconds.  Remember that black is almost always the best options and also the most versatile, if you’re wanting to make an investment in lace shoes.

Hot for the Holidays – Chain Embellished Party Shoes

November 3, 2010 Comments (0)

Chains are getting major air time this fall and winter. High end designers have been using them for a couple of seasons now and this means more affordable labels are jumping on the bandwagon. Lucky for us that means scoring this cool, tough look for less when choosing shoes for the holidays. If you love basic colors and silhouettes, the chain trend is perfect for you, since many shoes simply have chain embellishment on top of staple shoe styles.

For a vampy pair of pumps, try the Lovechains heels from Stuart Weitzman. Available in black and a true dark red, these pumps have a slightly pointed toe and are embossed with a croc print. The embossed print adds a luxe touch, but that doesn’t mean these pumps are too prissy. Draped across the front of the foot are a gold tone chains for an edgy finish. The shoes can even work for the office, depending on how conservative your dress code is. If you can’t wear them at work, you’re sure to get use out of them for holiday parties and get-togethers. The Lovechains can be worn with skinny slacks or a sheath dress for a twist on classic pieces. Read more »
