Designers We Love: Alexander McQueen

June 29, 2011 Comments (0)

As the month of June wraps up, so does the end of the high bridal season. So today we decided to take one last look at some of the hottest bridal shoe fashions from one of our favorite designers: Alexander McQueen. But if wedding bells aren’t in your future, don’t fret. We’ve also thrown in some of the most playful fashion-forward creations from the famed designer that are perfect for a night out at the hottest spot in town.

The Resin bridal-esque peep-toe pump in pristine white satin features a row of buttons at the heel, as well as a wedding-appropriate bow. Or, to pick up the lace detailing in your dress, perhaps you could step out in the simply gorgeous Lace Covered Pump. As the name suggests this fabulous pump features a light nude upper with a delicate lace overlay. A more than 4-inch covered stiletto heel completes this wedding-worthy look.

If, however, you’re not in the market for a trip down the aisle, McQueen’s design house still has you covered. McQueen’s range of booties are particularly chic. We love the rock-and-roll inspired Python Ankle Boots, which include enough buckles and studs to keep even the toughest rocker chick feeling chic, as well as the rough-and-rowdy Cutout Biker Jacket, which features a sexy, zipper front, as well as sexy cutout detailing. Another fabulous option is McQueen’s Deranged Bootie, which features that same zipper detailing, but this time includes stitching and stud detailing. And we’re also seriously digging the Engraved Cage, a very Rihanna-esque bootie that features vampy intersecting straps and a soaring stiletto heel that measures clear over 5 inches!

Shoe Designers We Love: Tory Burch

June 18, 2011 Comments (0)

When it comes to selecting cool footwear for summer, it doesn’t get much better than a Tory Burch shoe. Below you’ll find our favorite Burch picks for every summer occasion…and beyond:

Best Ballet Flat
Tory Burch is perhaps best known for her Reva ballet flats, and for this reason we think it’s a must-have for every woman’s summer wardrobe. But this season we’re dying to buy it in the ultra-glam gold glitter. It’s got all the trappings of a great ballet shoe–a rounded toe, a ruched heel for a custom fit, and just a hint of a rubber heel.

Best Fancy Flip-Flop
When it comes to a casual shoe that can take you from the beach to the bar, we think it doesn’t get much better than the Miller flip-flop. This traditional thong flip-flop has narrow leather straps, metallic stud detailing, and an oversized logo disc at front and center. This shoe is finished with a leather lining and stitch detailing for ultimate comfort and durability.

Best Summer Wedge
If there’s one shoe I can’t live without in the summer, it’s a great wedge in a nude hue. The Sally is a great option to pair with tailored separates for the office, or with jeans or a sundress for the weekend, as it boasts a rich tan upper, an approximate 2 ½-inch wood-look heel, and the signature gold Tory Burch logo disk at the rounded toe. You’ll be able to wear this wedge through the fall and even some of the warmer winter days.

Best Sassy Summer Sandal
If you’ve got a fancy occasion on your summer calendar, such as an outdoor wedding or a garden party, you can’t go wrong with the stunning Adelaide. This barely there sandal boasts a stunning strap at the open toe as well as a tan crocodile-print upper with your choice of black or brown contrast piping. This sandal is finished with a less-than-grass-friendly approximate 3 ½-inch stiletto heel.

Designers We Love: Stuart Weitzman

May 16, 2011 Comments (1)

If you’re a serious shoe connoisseur, chances are that you’ve fallen in love with at least one pair of Stuart Weitzman’s in your lifetime. (But it’s much more likely that you’ve fallen for at least one pair per season.) And with Weitzman himself churning out more than 300 new shoe styles and handbags each year, you can bet that the styles you’ve chosen are on the cutting edge or even way ahead of the style curve.

In celebration of the fact that myShoes.com has just launched a partnership with Stuart Weitzman and is working with the brand directly, we’d like to share our top reasons to love your wonderful Weitzman’s:

Lifting Summer Sandals
Whatever the occasion, you’re sure to look simply fabulous stepping out in the Grantee. This tan leather sandal boasts a series of slender horizontal straps, each with their own metallic buckle closure that’s anchored by an equally slinky T-strap at the center. An ankle strap with adjustable closure ensures a custom and comfortable fit, while a covered stiletto heel of approximately 4 1/2 inches will provide more than a hint of height.

If you’re looking for something in a wedge, we can’t get enough of the Giltalex, a tall wedge sandal that boasts a nature-inspired woven wedge heel, but turns up the glitz and glamour with braided bronze straps that intersect across the open foot before anchoring at the ankle with an oversized metallic buckle closure. They’re perfect for adding a little va-va-voom to a summer dress.

Slingbacks and Flats
When you need something more formal, it doesn’t get much better than the aptly named Bow Slingback. Available in a demure shade of nude, this patent leather pump boasts a flirty peep-toe accented with an oversized double bow. This gorgeous sandal is finished with a stiletto heel of about 4 1/2 inches.

We’re also super excited about Weitzman’s range of flat sandals for this summer. Take the Cuffed for example, which at first blush appears to be just a simple leather sandal with a bold strap at the toe and a slender, wraparound strap at the ankle. However, what sets it apart is the stunning gold accent at the arch, which adds a serious element of interest. The same can be said for the truly stunning Nowired, with an ankle strap that consists of a series of different gold chains, held by leather straps with metallic hardware.

Designers We Love: Ivanka Trump

March 31, 2011 Comments (1)

To commemorate the launch of Ivanka Trump’s debut shoe line, we figured we’d showcase just a few of our fave styles from this mogul mama-to-be!

Best Office Pump
When it comes to selecting a shoe for the office, it’s no surprise that the daughter of “The Donald” has it well and truly covered. The Gurdia is a sleek and sensible pump that boasts a smooth leather upper, an elongated pointed toe, and sexy cutout detailing at the side and heel. A soaring 3 1/2-inch stiletto heel ensures that you’ll be standing tall all day long.

Best Business Flat
If you have a job that has you darting here, there and everywhere, then you’ll need a fashionable flat that will go the distance. Enter the Magnoli, a soft, classic ballet flat featuring smooth leather, a rounded toe, ruched detailing at the side, and a lightly cushioned midsole. We think you’ll agree… making a coffee run has never looked more chic.

Best Party Pump
She might be all business in the boardroom, but Ivanka likes to cut loose and her shoe line shows just that. We suggest you take a walk on the wild side with the stunning Pinkette pump, which features a sexy leopard print pony hair upper, a rounded toe, and a soaring 4-inch heel.

Best After-Hours Flat
When you work a 9-5, the weekends are all about running – for errands, for shopping, for fun! Ivanka has you covered with the adorable Scapoli, a jelly-like flat that is available in a host of far from business-like hues (OK fine, they have black too!) These chic flats are embellished with gold buckle and leather detailing at the toe, making them look far more expensive than their $80 price tag would suggest.

Best Wild Card
With all her fame and fortune, Ivanka has walked a red carpet or two in her life and has shared a design that is sure to wow even the toughest fashion critic (we’re looking at you Joan Rivers!) The Bulbli is available in your choice of classic black, a rich navy, or a sexy red hue, and features a patent leather upper, a flirty peep toe, and exposed side panels. The real show-stopper, however, is the sexy ankle strap with buckle detail and covered 4-inch stiletto heel. Perfect-o!

February 24, 2011 Comments (1)

Everyone loves the charitable show company, Tom’s. But, well, there’s only so many pairs of these so-simple shoes we can buy, let alone wear.

Enter the Olsen Twins, or rather their The Row, fashion line, which is teaming up with Tom’s for a limited edition shoe. According to Tom’s founder Blake Mycoskie, the he Mary Kate and Ashley-approved shoe is a reinterpretation of Tom’s original alpargata shoe, and is said by some to more closely resemble an espadrille type shoe and will be available in plaid, wool cashmere and herringbone.
