Color Wars: The Perfect Striped Shoes For Summer

June 17, 2011 Comments (0)

When it comes to dressing for the summer, you could say I have somewhat of a uniform. For me, there’s nothing better–or easier–than throwing on and hurrying out the door in a simple single-shaded sundress. Admittedly, this look does have the potential to get a little boring, especially when my sundress uniform is repeatedly paired with my usual metallic flats or pumps and sandals in nude hues.

This season, however, choosing the perfect summer outfit has left me indecisive–in a good way! With new trends and color combinations, I’ve realized how pointless it is to pay for a pair of matching shoes for a single dress when you can get a pair of striped shoes, boasting at least two colors, which work perfectly with multiple outfits.

Flat Favorites
For dashing around town this summer, I’m OBSESSED with the Boardwalk Ballerina by Isabel Toledo for Payless. At a wallet-friendly $40, these shoes feature a primarily baby blue base accented with black and white striped piping and just a hint of yellow at the toe. Plus, the rubberized sole means these ballet flats will stay comfortable for the long haul!

Comfortable Summer Days
To add a hint of height to my summer look, I’m dying to step out in the seriously sexy Chus by Christian Louboutin. This sassy wedge boasts a mixed upper that includes a blue and white striped canvas, accented with your choice of Christian’s signature red toe cap or an equally summery yellow cap. This shoe is finished with a dainty sling back strap and a 4-inch raffia-look wedged heel, which gives you the perfect balance of comfort and height.

Office Pumps
For those long days in the office, there’s the Peddy by L.A.M.B. This modern twist on the classic Mary Jane takes the classic combination of light brown and cream on the upper and adds intersecting straps at the forefoot, complete with an adjustable buckle detail. This stunning style is finished with a vertigo-inducing stiletto of nearly 5 inches, but it also boasts a concealed platform midsole to make those commutes to the copier a little easier on your feet.

Dress Up Your Summer Nights
For more formal summer events, it doesn’t get much better than the Johanna by Rough Justice. This D’Orsay style pump brightens up your formal attire with alternating curved stripes in shades of purple and magenta. With the addition of a flirty peep toe and a 4-inch covered stiletto heel, your stunning outfit is complete.

If you’re not sure about the stripe trend, consider the Quite Rite by Luichiny, which features a solid upper in your choice of green, magenta, or light brown. This sandal discretely incorporates stripes on the multi-hued 4 1/2-inch stiletto heel and accompanying platform mid-sole, which gives you the ability to match it with one outfit without the overwhelming stripes. Perfect!

Tis the season. Apparently, to be jolly, to give, to love, to share and… to wear black. You see, when your plate is full – either with things to do or with food! – it just seems easier and slimming to throw on a little black dress or tailored pants and a black sweater and head out to the holiday party scene!

This year, we’re embracing black. We just have one concession – pair your LBO (little black outfit – duh!) with this season’s other trend: Bright Booties!

Below are the best bright booties for every budget: Read more »

Honeysuckle Predicted as the It Color for 2011

December 24, 2010 Comments (0)

The verdict is in! Pantone, the folks who dictate what colors are in or out each year, have predicted that honeysuckle will be the color for 2011. Maybe you’ve never heard of this hue. It’s a lush pink shade that’s not as saturated or bright as coral, but definitely more interesting and versatile than plain ol’ pink. Honeysuckle can be done in many shades, which is why it’s a fabulous color for 2011. You can style it many ways and wear it for almost any occasion.

We’re always a fan of statement shoes here at myShoes.com and honeysuckle is the perfect hue to do that with for the new year. The delicate details like bows and ribbons that are going to be strong trends for the SS 2011 season will match up perfectly with the color of the year. Read more »

Interesting Uppers

August 24, 2010 Comments (0)

If you want shoes that are interesting, arresting, bold, or bright, then these uppers are for you! It’s time to branch out.

Side-Tie Boots in Ruched Suede

Ruched suede is such a rich-looking upper, particularly when you get boots that come up to the knees at least. Ruched suede looks perfect when you select a pair with thick nap and in a rich color like eggplant, navy blue, or chocolate brown. Make sure that shoes in suede that feature ties or drawstrings have the ties in matching material. Read more »

Branch Out and Try These Shoe Colors

June 1, 2010 Comments (0)

Summer always makes me want to start dressing up like I haven’t since… well, last summer! The dresses come out, the shoes come out, and everything gets bright and beautiful. To get you out of that rut, try these special shoes on for size. Who knows? Maybe one of these suggestions will become your favorites.

Peach Platforms: Peach isn’t just hot for your nails… although a peach pedicure wouldn’t be out of place here. Peach platforms are at home in hot weather because they don’t look too clunky or chunky, and a light tint of peach color will make your legs look miles long. Don’t be afraid to flaunt this look with other girly colors like pink and coral, too.

Pink and Teal Patterned Shoes: Teal and turquoise look great when blended together, and are easily set off with cocktail gems and genuine chunky turquoise accessories. Pink and teal have been my favorite in spring so far with a navy blue nautical-inspired dress and blue footless tights. These shoes are cool with dark denim and in animal print as well. Read more »

Go Green: Green shoes hot for spring

March 31, 2010 Comments (0)

Sure, St. Patty’s day may have come and gone, but green shoes are here to stay this season!

As we wait for the weather to heat up, a good choice to go green is the Charlie pump by Cindy Says, which features an Ombre-look patent leather upper that starts with a rich, olive hue at the heel that transitions to the palest lime hue at the toe.

Another great option for this in-between weather? The so-cute Kelly green Florale flat by Steve Madden, which boasts a textured fabric upper and a cute ruffled floral detail at the peep-toe vamp. Read more »
