Wild Kingdom!

November 4, 2011 Comments (0)

Snake prints are everywhere this season, and as we see it, it’s the duty of the myShoes team to give you the inside scoop on all things exotic. So we’ve gathered up the best looks that the animal kingdom has to offer. It’s time to grab your snake-bite kit and be prepared to step out in the most sssstunning shoes on the market:

Flat Out Fabulous
The most comfortable way to rock the snake-skin look is in a pair of comfy flats, and the Vibrant style from TopShop is a great place to start. Not only are they sophisticated and a little bit dangerous, but the bow detail gives them a feminine edge. And for only $36 you’ve got no reason not to buy them.

But seeing as how woman can not live on ballet flats alone, there’s also the Nariko loafer/mocccasin style from Dolce Vita. The leather shoe features an embossed snake-skin print and offers an overall simple, subtle look.

High and Mighty
But if you consider “flat” to be a four-letter word, then perhaps you’d be more comfortable rocking the snake-skin trend in a pump/platform look. The Destiny style from Carlos by Carlos Santana is 4.5 inches of stiletto heaven. But the platform sole will keep your feet comfortable while looking fabulous.

And if you like a little color with your snake-like look, then check out the Sultry shoe from Topshop. The electric blue leather pump offers a sky-high 5-inch heel that will definitely get you noticed.

Boot Up
Chic boot styles are our last stop on the snake-skin train. If money is no object, then I offer you the Paige style from Alice + Olivia. It has a heel height of about 5 inches, a shocking red hue, and will look positively outstanding with a short LBD.

And for all of my budget fashionistas, there’s the Just Fun peep-toe bootie from Luichiny. They’re a steal at only $89.99 and feature just a hint of snake-skin detail at the top, on the heel and around the ankle. Sexy, chic, and fabulous.

Exotic Shoes for Every Day

March 11, 2011 Comments (0)

Exotic shoes can include fish skin, animal print, and vintage-style pumps, so you might already wear these exotic styles more than you think. But can you wear your exotic shoes to the office regularly? These daring shoes for daily wear can have you doing just that.

Unusual Giraffe Print: If you ever see a pair of shoes in brown-and-white giraffe print, snap them up! This animal print is less common and therefore can be used in more situations, and if you find a shoe that has a strappy upper, the giraffe print is minimized to look just like a regular pattern.

Best Valentines Day Shoes for Every Occasion

February 14, 2011 Comments (0)

Whether you’re planning on spending your Valentines day with your significant other, or just a bunch of your significantly single gal pals, we here at MyShoes.com think it’s always a great reason to pick out a new pair of shoes (as if we needed a reason at all!)

Below you’ll find some of the shoes that we’d be proud to step out in, categorized by occasion of course!

A romantic evening with the husband:
Here’s the deal ladies – if you want your valentines day outfit to be a surprise on the big day, then you’ll need to make sure that the price of your shoes doesn’t arouse suspicion on the ol’ credit card statement. With this in mind, we recommend the budget-friendly Aishah by the aptly named Romantic Soles. Clocking in at a wallet friendly $26, this shoe boats a bold satin upper with a flirty peep toe and an oversized contrast bow detailing. A slender slingback strap and 3 ½ inch covered stiletto heel complete this look.

A romantic evening with the boyfriend (yes, there’s a difference!)
When you don’t have to tell your significant other how much you spent (or if your beloved has waved buh-bye to a budget!), we’d love to step out in the so-romantic Ophelia by Martinez Valero. These beautiful peep-toes – which are also available in a wedding-worthy white in case things really go well on this date! – boasts an oversize bow accented with not-so-girly grommet detailing. This shoe is finished with a vertigo-inducing 4 ½ inch stiletto heel and accompanying platform midsole. Read more »

Shoes like the Kardashians in New York City

November 5, 2010 Comments (0)

Kourtney and Kim Kardashian are now in the Big Apple, filming their latest reality television show. No matter how you feel about the Kardashians and their ruthless practice of monetizing on anything and everything, there’s no denying that the gals pay attention to what they wear and how they wear it. In New York, Kourtney and Kim have decided a more grown-up approach to their ensembles, swapping the cutesy LA garb for sophisticated outfits that mix with the vibe of the city. Here’s a rundown of the shoes they’re wearing and versions you can buy to get a similar look.

How to Wear the Pointed Toe Pump

September 28, 2010 Comments (0)

The pointed toe pump has taken the fashion world by storm. They made their way into mainstream fashion this season and the runways are predicting that the silhouette will stick around for next spring and summer. That means buying a pair of pointed to pumps that will get you through the next year or two and update your work duds with just a change of shoes.

Do’s
- Do go for embossed neutrals to keep things from getting boring. Think nude, grey, black and cognac when choosing a neutral with a faux lizard or croc print embossed.
- Do go for dainty embellishments. A bow adds a whimsical look that will still look chic as long as you’re wearing a suit or other smart work gear.
- Do opt for an architectural heel. The pointed toe looks fabulously updated when paired with an architectural heel that has a slight curve.
- Do go for mary jane-style pointed toe pumps. These are chic for the work place and also work with wide leg pants or skinny trousers when going casual. Read more »
