It’s the season of giving, and with the help of more than 700 non-profit organizations from across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Latin America, and the Caribbean, Payless Shoe Source is gearing up to deliver $1.2 million in free shoes through its Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program.
Children who are in need of shoes simply go to a Payless store, shop for the shoes that fit, and then walk away with a new pair of shoes.
“For many families, the need for a new pair of shoes is a fun, quick trip to the store, but for others it is a financial burden and an impossible expense,” said LuAnn Via, CEO and president of Payless. “And we are here to help.”
If you’d like to contribute to the global need for shoes, you can simply purchase the Airwalk Hope shoe from Payless or Payless.com. With the purcahse of each pair, a free pair of kids’ shoes will be donated to a child in need in Central America.
So dig deep, and shoe shop for a good cause!

Now that the sun has risen on Black Friday it’s safe to say that it’s all over…for this year. I don’t know about you, ladies, but I’m completely wiped from my Black Friday excursion. I got a lot of great shoe deals online (a devine pair of Oliver black pumps from Badgley Mischka for this year’s office holiday party) and I even braved the mall for some great discounts as well.
So let’s compare notes! What great deals and discounts were you able to snatch up this season? I’m dying to hear about all of your best shoe buys!

Yesterday we talked about the emotional tactics behind a successful Black Friday shopping excustion. Now we’re going to talk about the physical. We’re talking shoes, people! The comfiest shoes that you can wear that will keep your feet cozy during those marathon hours of trudging through the mall. Here are my top picks:
Athletic Shoes
There is quite possibly no other shoe that can keep your feet feeling happier, then the simple athletic shoe. The New Balance 855 not only looks sleek in a cool black hue, but it’s literally made for walking, so you’re guaranteed hours of comfort and support.
My beloved Adidas Volleio W is the ultimate cross-training shoe. You’ll be able to stand in line for hours on end, bob and weave through oncoming shoppers, and roam the aisles in comfort.
Ballet Flats
If you’re fortunate enough to live in a warmer climate, then a pair of simple ballet flats may be just what the doctor ordered. If you’re desperately seeking comfort in a basic black style, check out the Denise style from Banana Republic or the high-end Acarie model from Mephisto.
But if you’re searching for a little pop of color to help you stand out from what is sure to be an enormous shopping crowd, then you must try the bright red Anna flats from Banana Republic.
Flat Boots
I’ve never really been a big fan of flat boots, but when it’s cold outside and comfort is key, then they’re one of the best options out there. The Zen mid-calf flat boot from Journee is comfort and style wrapped up in a neat little package, and I’m also a big fan of the Carryn style from Sacred Heart.
The clock is counting down, ladies, so gear up for the joy the season, the deals of the year, and be careful out there!

The biggest shopping day of the year is nearly upon us! Be prepared to work off that Thanksgiving feast and grab some fabulous bargains with these Black Friday survival tips.
Pack Your Patience
If you choose to venture out into the world of brick-and-mortar stores to start your holiday shopping, it’s best to get there early and pack your patience. If you plan on taking advantage of deals that are being offered at big box retailers you certainly won’t be alone. And big crowds often equal limited parking and agitated people. So in order to prevent you from losing your cool, just remember to keep calm, get the item you came for, get out, and then celebrate your shopping bounty at home with a nice cup of hot chocolate.
Try the Little Guy
The mall isn’t always the best place to find gifts this holiday season. Small shoe boutiques are more likely to have a larger Black Friday selection of products, better parking, and a lot fewer people beating down the doors at 5 a.m.
Dress for the Part
We all like to look cute when we’re shopping, but this is modern shopping warfare! Keep the 4-inch leather boots at home and dress for comfort—ballet flats, tennis shoes, and flat boots are the way to go!

I know I’m probably jumping the gun, but with Thanksgiving just a few scant days away I’ve already started putting together my holiday wish list.
Here are my top three must-haves that I’d love to find underneath my tree:
*Cobalt blue Skylar booties from Zigi are all I need to make the season bright.
*My decadent side is digging these Simple Botta 120’s from Christian Louboutin. They are fierce! (and only $1,395!)
*It will be a New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to remember in these Bijou red-devil pumps from Dolce Vita.
So, what styles are on your list this year?

A very famous shoe designer was recently quoted as saying that, basically, he’s over platforms. Apparently platforms are “gimmicky…look dated…[and] are over now.”
So what do you think? Is this guy tipping us all off to the end of platforms, or are platforms here to stay?
