Finding the right shoes is tough. Why not make it easier with these shoe horoscopes for February and March?

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Aries, you’ve got to rally this month in order to get the prize. Pick up a pair of shoes that gives you wings and help you chase your career goal, since it’s closer than ever. Friends are going to play a big part in your life, so you can invite a pal to go shoe shopping with you this month, too.

February 27, 2011 Comments (0)

In honor of the upcoming NBA All Star game (that’s February 20 for all you non-ESPN viewers!), Nike has created a new pair of 3-D sneakers for basketball legend Kobe Bryant to sport as he slam dunks his way through the game.

If the thought of a 3-D shoe seems a bit bizarre, allow us to explain. This sneaker, dubbed the Zoom Kobe VI (not to be mistaken with the 5 pairs that apparently preceded this sneaker) boasts a 3-D appliqué that only becomes visible when you don a pair of those ultra-chic 3-D glasses. Read more »

Blue Shoes for the Bride

February 26, 2011 Comments (0)

The trend of a statement shoe for a bride has been going strong for a few years. Shoes in all shades of blue are allowing brides to showcase their style with their footwear. No matter what style of bride you choose to be, there’s a blue shoe out there that will suit you. There’s nothing like a gorgeous gown with a pair of bright blue shoes peeking from beneath.

For the glamour bride there’s the Orli from Martinez Valero. These pumps have a peep toe and subtle platform. The shoes are an ultra shiny satin, making them ideal for a column-style dress or a gown with a full skirt. The shoes also have rhinestone detail for mega sparkle when it’s time to toss the garter. The shoes have a 4 inch heel, but in conjunction with the platform, you’re really looking at a heel of about 3-3 1/2 inches, which isn’t bad for dancing or playing supermodel as everyone takes tons of pictures of you.

FAQs About Women’s Shoes

February 25, 2011 Comments (0)

Got a question about women’s shoes? We’re tackling some of the most common ones here at My Shoes!

1. Can I wear tights with open-toed shoes?

You can, but it’s not the kind of look that screams “polished professional.” If you are looking for a way to balance your shoe preference with hosiery, consider selecting shoes with a sandal toe or an open foot, and then picking covered-ankle shoes to hide the lines between hosiery and foot. If you can’t let go of your open-toed footwear, consider looking for a pair of shoes with an identical heel style and vamp, just without the peep toe up front.

2. How can I dress up a pair of flats?

You’ll have to go for detail when dressing up a pair of flat shoes. Flats might not be arresting as heels, but they are far more comfortable! Select a pair of flat shoes that features lots of detail along the toe, like grosgrain ribbon bows, buttons, or berries, or find a pair that has an unusual vamp or upper. Snakeskin makes a huge impact when dressing up, as does a pair of shoes with a very deep up-front dip. As you get used to flats, you’ll find yourself branching out more and more.

3. How long should my pants be when wearing heels?

You’ve got to analyze the pant’s “break” to get that answer. This is one reason why many women like to wear skirts instead of pants to work, because unless you choose heels that are all the same height, you’re always going to have difficulty matching pants and shoes. In general, your pants should sweep downwards over your heel, but they shouldn’t touch the floor. In the front, the pants should crease once over the top of your foot—this is the “break.” Keep in mind that, when wearing skirts, you’ll find that higher heels make your skirt shorter!

Cute Flat Sandals for Spring and Summer 2011

February 23, 2011 Comments (1)

There’s nothing like a new pair of sandals to get you excited about the warm weather. This year it’s all about an embellished sandal that can be mixed and matched with your basic separates and bold prints. Mix things up is the message designers sent for spring and summer 2011. This means wearing prints with prints, layering bright colors and rocking sandals that stand out in a crowd.

For those who favor cool tones in their summer wardrobe, the Jessica Simpson Ceal sandals are just the ticket. These flat sandals have a T-strap and buckle closure at the ankle. Tonal flat stones run across the ankle and down the top of the foot for subtle sparkle that make them the go-to sandals for summer. You can wear these with casual pieces like a T-shirt and cargo shorts, but you can also wear them at night with a maxi dress and plenty of jewelry. The pewter color makes it easy to coordinate almost anything in your wardrobe with these trendy sandals.
