More Shoes from Fashion Week

September 27, 2010 Comments (0)

Fashion Week in New York has come and gone, but there are enough photos to last us all year. Here’s your second-part installment of our top New York shoes that we saw on the runway and on the feet of some of the attendants.

Laced Booties on Olivia Palermo

Booties were everywhere in the crowd this season, and Olivia Palermo looked stunning in front of the camera… of course! Her laced-up booties had a closed tongue and fine laces that emphasized their delicate nature. They can be paired with a pencil skirt or smart dress, just like she did… but the camera-readiness is something harder to copy. Read more »

Spring and Summer 2011 Shoe Trends

September 27, 2010 Comments (0)

New York fashion week is in full swing and designers are putting out their latest and greatest for what will be hot for the spring and summer 2011 seasons. Be ahead of the fashion pack by checking out the runway shows for shoe trends that will inevitably trickle down and end up in the SS11 collections of accessible, affordable designers like Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson and more. Here are a few of the top trends we’re seeing on the runway. Just as we’re lacing up our booties for fall and winter, here come the trend for spring and summer, but hey! That’s fashion!

Intricate Wedges

Wedges have gotten dramatic in recent seasons with massive platforms and embellishments like stripes or studs (like the popular Jeffrey Campbell wedges that were all the rage with fashion bloggers). For spring and summer 2011, wedges will take on even more detail with intricate etching in wood. Rodarte’s platform heavy wedges are a great example of the intricate wedges we’ll be seeing in stores next season. Read more »

September 27, 2010 Comments (0)

Even if its not technically sandal weather, it doesn’t mean you can start slacking on your mani-pedis! The good news? The season’s nail hues are so cute, you won’t need any encouragement to head to the salon:

Military Chic:

How to Wear Thigh High Boots

September 10, 2010 Comments (1)

Thigh high boots are back on the radar for fall and winter 2010. The sultry shoes made their debut into mainstream fashion a few seasons ago, but it was just last fall and winter that they were embraced by the public. Quickly we’ve realized that it’s not only a fashion editor or dominatrix that can get away with the sassy boots. Thigh high boots are wearable for real life; it’s all in how you wear them.

Do’s

-Do choose black. Let’s face it. Black thigh high boots are the easiest to wear and will fit in to your fall and winter wardrobe seamlessly. They are dramatic without being over-the-top when you choose a flat black leather with an almond toe and stacked heel.

- Do choose a platform. We aren’t talking a ridiculously high platform that will make your boots look as if they’re fit for the stage. A 1-2 inch platform will make the boots easy to maneuver, especially if the heel is at 4 inches.

- Do go monochrome when wearing something short. You can wear a short skirt or dress, but you don’t want to cross the line when it comes to looking sexy (and end up looking just plain trashy). Wearing a mid-thigh black skirt, opaque ribbed black tights and black thigh high boots looks hip and pulled-together, yet still pushes the style envelope. Read more »
