Crocs: Fashion Do or Fashion Don’t

May 31, 2010 Comments (0)

When they first hit stores, I simply couldn’t find one thing attractive about these rubber clogs. Available in a host of what I considered lurid colors, crocs were bulky, clunky and a complete fashion faux-pas. However, when a very fashion-forward friend of mine stepped out in a pair of seriously chic pair of croc ballet flats, I figured perhaps it was time to give these little rubber shoes a second look.

The Lily, for example, boasts so cute patent leather trim that includes a bow detail at the vamp. Available in all black or brown with violet trim or gold with a forest green trim, these shoes are perfect for running around town (literally – they’re so comfortable they’ll make you feel like going here, there and everywhere!

If you’re looking for a summer staple to carry you through, consider the aptly named Cabana a classic thong sandal complete with a pop of fuchsia at the rolled thong post and a 2 ½ inch modified wedge heel for more than a hint of height! Read more »

May 31, 2010 Comments (0)

Summer is full of fun frocks that are girlish and light. What better way to balance the soft looks than with studs on your shoes? Whether you want a pair that are suitable for every day or shoes to glam up a simple outfit for night, there are tons of studded beauties on the market that will make you shine on for summer.

If you’re the woman on-the-go, you know that a pair of cute flats are a must. You can wear them with polished pieces to work or you can sport a fun dress with them for the weekend. Flats are also a must to keep in your bag in the event your feet give out when wearing heels and you need a shoe costume change. The Shimmy flats from Paris Hilton are a darling addition to any outfit. Wear them to the office with a sheath dress topped with a cardigan or dress the Shimmy flats down with a loose blouse in a fun print and capri pants.

Clogs are hot for summer. The Cool platform sandals from Bronx will update your entire summer wardrobe. These clogs have a thick platform and sole with brass-toned studs along the sides. The warm nude color creates an elongated look and the wood-like sole adds an organic feel to your look. Try them in the day with bright top and denim skirt and wear them out at night with a silk dress in a rich color like pink or green. Enhance the shoes by going for accessories with a natural twist such as wooden bangles or a raffia clutch. Read more »

Comfort Party Shoes

May 30, 2010 Comments (0)

If you’re the entertaining type, you know how hard it is to find a good pair of shoes that flatter and that are comfortable enough that you can wear them comfortably. Try these shoes on for size this summer, and see if you don’t start entertaining more, now that your feet aren’t killing you!

Court Shoes: These shoes are great for comfort, but they don’t require too much planning in terms of outfits. You can find these in select stores in the States as well as online from the United Kingdom, and there are a lot of different styles from which to choose if you find the right place. Court shoes are amazing in unexpected metallic.

Laced Flats: These flats let a little additional style in, but they are casual enough to wear to outdoors stuff as well. The toes are often laced on the toes or up the heels, and they look especially great in nautical stripes and bright red… yes, even if you’re not boating! Try them with skinny pants for a Parisian vibe.

Kitten Heels with Elastic Straps: Elastic-strapped kitten heels are great for skinny jeans wearers, and tulip skirts are sweet with these, too. Unlike Mary Janes with traditional straps, these ones have a modern appearance that’s easy on your legs. We love kitten heels in moc croc prints and shoes in smooth, simple leather. Read more »

On Trend: Bold Suede Shoes

May 30, 2010 Comments (0)

At this point in the season, it really doesn’t matter where in the country you’re living – to some degree, we’re all stuck in this in-between weather. One day its 90 degrees and you’re wriggling into a sundress, and the next it’s barely pushing 60 and you’re reaching for a cozy sweater.

If we could call upon the shoe fairy, we’d ask for a shoe that works for this in-between weather. Something that says things are heating up, but it’s not yet time to hit the beach, but implicitly states that we’re not ready to go back to the snowy tundra of the past few months.

The solution? Bold-hued suede shoes! Read more »

Sandals for the Beach

May 29, 2010 Comments (0)

Everyone wants to look hot at the beach, but we want to be able to walk on the beach without sinking into the sand. Think flat soles for comfort and fabrics that can easily be rinsed off when you’re home from your day in the sun.

For a thick sole that will add height as you saunter across the sand in style, check out the Sandrahh from Steven Madden. These sandals have a flat sole with a subtle platform and thong-style straps at the toe. Contrasting ruched bands sit at the top of the foot for a cool look that will transfer to your casual duds should you grab lunch or hit a local shop while at the beach. Neutral shades like the Sandrahh are hot this season with neon brights, so wear them with a neon yellow swimsuit for a great spin on the trend. Read more »

Summer Trends for Working Women

May 29, 2010 Comments (0)

If you’re fashionably inclined, you probably hate working in a restrictive environment, fashion-wise. It’s not easy looking great when you’re wearing at all-black, week after week, but you know what? There are plenty of ways to sneak in summer trends no matter how “corporate” you have to dress.

Woven Leather Shoes: Monochrome shoes are excellent, but they can also be really boring. If you need a pair of woven leather shoes, you can even find a perfect pair for the office with a simple sling-back strap that keeps your shoes on tight when you’re dashing around desperately. Huarache-inspired, tightly woven, and knotted leather shoe uppers are excellent for the office.

Wedges: Wedge and platform heels can definitely look great when you pick out the right style. If you’re feeling extra daring, you can wear ultra skinny wedge heels, and then sleek trousers with a great silhouette. Another option is finding a pair of simple heels with a hidden platform to give you lots of height.

Contrast Heels: Espadrilles and shoes with natural elements are hot, but they don’t look great when you don’t pick out the right pair—and they really don’t have any place in the office. Instead of pushing it, look for contrasting heels like ones with leather-covered cork or a dark stacked wood, which is an excellent look. Read more »
