Your Horoscope and Your Feet, Part 2

January 31, 2010 Comments (0)

If you are interested in astrology, then you probably check your horoscope on a semi-regular or even everyday basis. If that sounds like you, we’ve been publishing tips and tricks based on your feet, your sign, and what you should– and shouldn’t– wear. Last week we presented what you should wear, according to your sign. Here’s what you shouldn’t.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Do not close your feet in, or your feet will revolt! The worst thing you can do for those feet is pen them in with manmade materials. If you are a vegan, do your best to find shoes that are comfortable and well-ventilated.

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 20)

If you don’t have money to buy the shoes you like, don’t buy any at all, or at least shop via clearance and specials to purchase the brand and style of shoes that you really want. You will want to avoid pleather and faux suede–canvas and leather is better.

What to Wear with Wedges

January 30, 2010 Comments (0)

Wedges are a fantastic shoe choice for any woman. They are fashionable and sleek, well-balanced without being boring-looking or too conservative, and always dressy enough for date night. Because of their less-than-classic look, we’re handing down some of the best looks with which to pair these gorgeous shoes. The sky’s the limit, you fashionable dresser, you!

Casual, Relaxed Looks
: Wedges have a naturally casual look to them when they are offered in bright colors. If you play off the low-key look, you can choose flowy selections like bohemian tunics and floral skirts for frolicking to pair with your wedges. Start things off with a deep, dark navy or amethyst purple, and then build up to the brights.

Take it up a notch: Bust out the patterned tights and add a vintage vibe to jewel-tone wedges.

Wide-Leg Jeans: Some people are adamant against wearing a chunkier shoe with a wide-leg jean. Try not to worry about that, as long as you keep your upper layer body-conscious and trim. Wide-leg and boot-leg jeans look great with a substantial wedge, and you can experiment with lots of different colored wedge heels when you are wearing denim. Read more »

Best shoes for spring

January 29, 2010 Comments (0)

Spring brings out the best in our attitude towards fashion. We’re tired of being layered and dark, and finally feel the need to push the fashion envelope and try out new things in the name of a new season. Spring shoe trends are always on the radar, but this season, they’re taking over, allowing us to put our closet to work thanks to a new pair of shoes.

Neon

Neon is the bold trend of the season. Shoes are a great way to try the trend in a fuss-free way. Wedges, flat sandals, ballet flats, and loafers are all great shoe styles that allow neon shades to shine, while keeping the trend wearable. Also look for shoes with neon details such as bright piping, closures or color blocking. This way you add the color to your look, but remove the guesswork of how to wear it.

Cage sandals

Cage sandals are still going strong. This spring, it’s all about nude and cognac. Read more »

Grey-diant: Why You Need Grey Shoes

January 28, 2010 Comments (0)

Typically, when we think of grey, we usually hearken back to things that are somber or depressing: Grey skies, the movie Grey Gardens, or the hue of our once jet black jeans after a few too many spins in the washing machine. So why are grey shoes all of a sudden everywhere?

You see, grey is yet another neutral tone. In terms of shades, it runs the gamut from a slightly mudded ivory all the way to a carbon-like near black (not that we want to bring up those faded jeans again!) Since it has so many color variances, grey can be paired with just about anything. This season, we’ve seen grey used as a softer variance on the typical brown or black winter boot, and the hue has also been cropping up as a color option in heels for cocktail parties and formal affairs.
