1920s Inspired Shoes

August 16, 2010 Comments (0)

Are you a glamour girl? Born in the wrong decade? If the ’20s theme is one you’d like to try, then look for these shoe styles right away!

Beaded Shoes

Beaded shoes are hard to find, but not impossible. Get ones with a beaded portion along the toe, and you won’t have to wear a flapper-style dress to get the ’20s-vibe going. Beaded shoes look great in more classic shapes, like upper-strap heels and t-strap dancing shoes in colors like grey, ivory, and black.

Silk Heels

Silk heels are much classier than polyester satin, especially when it comes to black-tie events. Silk shoes can be easily embellished and embroidered, even after construction, and they are a perfect pairing with leather soles. For a night out, there’s nothing that feels more special than silk heels.

Silk Flower-Adorned Pumps

Silk flowers were on ’20s pieces galore, from hair accessories to lingerie to shoes. Look for shoes in any leather or fabric upper you want, with silk or silk satin-type flowers near the toes. These shoes are great for adding some punch to a plain dress, and they make any shoe look a lot more expensive.

Patchwork Shoes

Patchwork shoes can be unattractive if you don’t find the perfect pair, but don’t be scared! You should look for shoes that have coordinating leather patches. High boots look great with a simple band of patchwork trim, and you can also pick up flat shoes with a heel and toe cap in leather patches. Avoid the patchwork types in bold-colored leather.

Fabric-Covered Pumps

Fabric-upper shoes can have matching covered heels, a great look for early fall. Try these fabric-covered pumps with denim (we love the new jeggings from Tory Burch) or perhaps a skirt worn with matching tights. Fabric-covered pumps also look perfect with peacoats and other double-breasted items.

Multicolored Heels

A pair of shoes with contrasting t-straps or Mary-Jane straps is a neat look from the 1920s, and they can peek out perfectly from underneath black or dark denim. If you’re going to wear a pair of shoes with a ’20s colorway, then try combinations like brown and green, brown and teal, or black and red.

Have you ever worn ’20s-style shoes?
